I realize that the Satanic Bible is not the only option for Satanists (no matter what the CoS says). What other books do you find to be reliable sources of information on the LHP?

Reliable information... depends on what you mean by that.

I'd say there are basically three kinds of books on this:
    - studies by scholars
    - how-to guides for personal development
    - grimoires filled with UPGs/myths.

Most are of the third category, or mixes of the second and third. That also applies to TSB.
Also with the how-to guides. I haven't followed through completely with any of them yet, so I can't really confirm in what way they are reliable. Some techniques work, but if they don't, is it them or me?

I could list a ton of books, but I don't know what you are searching for.

The first LHP texts I read were probably by the MLO and the ONA (the latter of which we are not allowed to discuss here).
Then I found Diane Vera's website, and from there, I don't remember the exact order of things. Spent a while devouring anything I could get a hold of.
I think one of the earlier books I read was called "The Demonic Bible". Also looked into Setianism around that time, and into the books of Jan Fries. The writings of Michael Kelly were/are also rather interesting.

The writings and lectures of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell.

You can find hours of Joseph Campbell lectures free on Spotify.

The Satanic Bible is a good introduction to LHP philosophy, but it's not the only one. I can't really tell you what to read philosophy-wise but there are many sources, occult and otherwise, that make for helpful reads. If you like the Satanic Bible, Randian Objectivism (which are found in Ayn Rand's works) and Humanism are probably good places to start for the philosophy.

If you're interested in magic, try looking up Chaos magic books and webpages. It basically holds the core philosophy of how magic, psychodramatic and otherwise, works.

I find most of Michael W. Fords books to be useful for the beginning Magician if he or she chooses to explore the Path. Other than books, if you are on the LHP knowing what your goals are and are henceforth evolving, their isn't really a need to read books if you realize that you are no longer a novice anymore. The Satanic Bible however including some of Mr. LaVeys books are useful if one is new to the Path. Michael Aquino is also another option if one is willing to explore the Path more, I can't really say much about this individual in general but their are many books and documents by him that can be useful if one is curious about a more Spiritual and a creative Path to explore.

The Satanic Bible is simply about LaVeyan Satanism, only 1 sect. Satanism in general is extremely diverse, its not 1 religion or 1 belief system.
There are many Occult, Witchcraft and Left Hand Path resources, books, etc. listed in this thread:

I have a sneaking suspicion we are nearly the same age. ONA was probably my first exposure followed by MLO mostly because I was listening to the bands they were in. Largely, these texts were in the form of ASCII text files that I swapped on occult-specific BBS. I came to JoS/theisticsatanism.com (Diana Vera) later... As much as I could chew the fat about these relics of my past, for the most part, I don't consider them relevant anymore. For example, as good as Diana Vera's site is it doesn't really represent a modern theistic Satanist view as she is a polytheist moving toward many different god(ddess)es. It's more that her site co-opts Satanism for her own brand of dark polytheism. (I say dark ONLY because her pantheon includes many classically demonic beings.) I find her helpful, in a way, but not AS helpful for someone who wants to know about Satanism without her filter. Her religious views are more pagan than Satanic including the liberal talking points, and social activism. Times change, and this site hasn't been updated in years...

Personally, my fav site right now on theistic Satanism is Satan's Den. It's short, and sweet. That's the way I like it! :D Many of the relevant works are either in pdf on his page, or links so that you can find them/buy them. Easy enough...

Yep. They had a falling out.

Jung's idea of individuation is very much like "your dark side will make you whole."

I wouldn't be too sure of that - I read many things only years after the fact.
I'm in my mid-twenties and only converted to Satanism about 4 years ago.

Yes, a solid website. One of the earlier sites I encountered, and still certainly among the better.

You seem more mature for whatever reason to me, and I mean that simply as a compliment. I've been at this since my early teens and now in my 40s. :D Dunno, I often find it amusing how other people arrive at similar destinations despite coming from very different places. Oh and happy birthday!

Thanks! It's fascinating how in real life I normally get assumed to be much younger than I am while online the opposite happens more often.
I grew up in a very atheistic and anti-supernatural environment, so it took me a while to get over the belief that anyone who is into esoterics or occultism is an idiot by default, and so I only got into it in my twenties.

By the way, is there any way to change the settings so it's not shown above my posts when it's my birthday? Not that it'd bother me much, but I prefer more privacy to less.

    Back to the thread topic:
This thread seems to be about using books, and not just reading them ;)
Does anyone here want to share a bit of their experiences with actually doing the stuff they read about?
E.g. how suitable to real life did you find recommendation x to be? What results did you have with ritual y? What prior knowledge is necessary before looking into z?
I think that might be interesting to hear about!

My experiences from reading many other books by other LHP authors such as Michael W. Ford in general has evolved my path the way it is, as I have nearly stated this before. My experiences from using Mr. Fords system of Magick has been a self liberating experience for me. I have experienced things spiritually as I have never really experienced it before in my lifetime. When you become a novice within ones dark path you feel a temporary euphoric rush in which I am sure you brought up on a previous thread from Hammerhearts, however that euphoric rush does not last long forever, once that euphoria experience wears off you start to know and wander if your self has evolved and graduated along the Left Hand Path.

I wouldn't necessarily call most of my readings and studies recommendations, but I found most of my studies within the Left Hand Path and the system of Black Magic to be very suitable to put into practice. My results with "ritual y," has been the feeling of my self being liberated in general from all of the confines that one was previously under, my experiences with Magic hasn't been about being aware of the changes in any given situation but by being aware of the changes and the evolution of the self in general.

I wouldn't necessarily say that there needs to be any prior knowledge before looking into a new system to experiment in general. My experience when I was a beginning novice was realizing my own path, my own beliefs, and my own curiosity which lead to those recommendations "z" as you yourself choose to label it. When one chooses to explore a path, this individual is at first quite curious about this new system. This individual than sees if this new path and system resonates with him more.

When I was a beginning novice I was more or less into reading some books due to my curiosity of other beliefs within the LHP in which I later chose to incorporate some of those beliefs/systems. I would however say that when ones self evolves knowing and understanding of what his own path is about, than their isn't really a need to read more books and to use these books as the consumer in general in which I have perhaps brought up on my other post. After all a lot of these books that is considered LHP is mainly for the beginning novice in which I do not have a problem with.
