What is your best evidence for a god?

osgart

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
The human form and human capabilities are the best evidence for a God. But it doesn't quite get all the way there.

Everything humans have is for to do things with. This can be no accident. So amidst the raw violence, toxic gases, and deadly forces of the universe an intelligent organizing principle must exist. But it is not the driving, dominant force in the physical world.

There is still a lot of different (and contradictory) gods that different groups of people claim created the universe.
Again people.
People people people people people.

Are you suggesting that parents who don't believe in God, don't teach (brainwash) their children that there is no God? Or, do they just allow their children to make decisions without any guidance at all?
The definition of an atheist is someone who doesn’t hold a belief in a god. That is different from asserting that there is no god. Hard atheists claim there are no gods. In an ideal world a parent should provide the child with accurate unbiased facts and allow them to make up their own mind that belief in an invisible god that has no good evidence is not justified.

I cooked a piece of toast and the more burned part appeared as a profile of Jesus.

Oh wait... scratch that. I saw any icy waterfall frozen in three separate parts, and it reminded me of the trinity.

No, no wait... that's not it either. I added up some numbers from various scripture and the numbers I came to seem relevant and non-coincidental.

Actually, forget all that - I was in church one afternoon, praying in the pews alone, and I suddenly felt a wave of peace flow over my entire mind and body.

Hmmm... now that I am stating this stuff to other people, you know what? It sounds like a bunch of crap.

I gave you one key feature of the Bible that shows evidence of divine origin, accurate and reliable prophecy. Of course the Bible is a big book, and it would take a lot of time to delve into it all. The one that God will raise up witnesses for him in the last days to preach about the kingdom government that will solve all mankind's problems is visible evidence we can see with our eyes, today.

The Bible has other key features of being of divine origin, and of a God who is very interested in humankind, and in everyone as individuals. It would take investigation, and study to appreciate all of these facts. Surely it is worth your investigation.

A god who is interested in humankind? Who would commit mass genocide and wipe out most of the population of the world because he messed up his original creation. Has the ability to do anything but chooses to play hide and seek and ignore the plight of every human. A tour loving god.

because love is what god is. its an action, not a fixed form.

romans 1:19-20 tells you that. 1 corinthians 13:12 tells you that.

1 john 4:8 tells you that. i am the image of that action. god is a verb 1st and a thing 2nd

john 3:16 tells you that god loves the begotten, the whole. genesis 1 tells you that god created and each time called it good.
Thought so. Some book told you.

It's you who brought them into the conversation:-
I said.. God convinced people. NOT people convinced other people. Please take a moment to understand.

For example: you are good singer -- convinced somebody -- singing a beautiful song.
Of course, I can tell someone that you are good singer, but, I cannot convince. Only you yourself can convince by performing.

Sorry, I have qualifications in teaching mindfulness and know how to do it. Still don’t see how this has anything to do with a divine being.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.
-Bernard Shaw

Edit: Divine Beings, plural, not Being.

Edit 2: What is your definition of Divine Beings?

First, nobody can encounter God. Its God who decide -- whom to meet in person, or NOT.

Second, if you really interested in meeting/merge with God -- you need to make your own application/request, nobody can represent you. Hence, don't worry for people who contradict with each other. Important is -- are you a bonafide intending person ?

Third.. perhaps you may be, but, I don't think at this time you qualify to make this meeting application to God. :)
Your god cannot be encountered, only wants to meet people who already believe or who are worthy and everybody imagines this being in completely different ways. This does sound like tap dancing around the fact there is no evidence beyond just blind faith.

Do you have any other experiences that I might be able to rationalise. At the moment you “smelling” it and feeling it in your heart is entirely personal to you.
Rationalise?

At one point I had a lot of questions of the type "If there is a God, there has to be a reason for all this suffering." There were many variations of this question.

I found in reincarnation and karma a partial answer. With those, much of what happens to people has a reason.

But there's more. Another reason is the idea that anything that's too easy is not really satisfying. What is truly satisfying is something supremely difficult that we manage to accomplish. So the universe was set up for us accordingly.

Another is the fundamental nature of love. If we take a limited view of God as a parent, a good parent allows a child to have learning experiences. A child can't mature unless the child learns that fire is hot and will burn.

I'll catch up on the thread and see if another posts triggers something more.
