What do you think of Greenpeace?

I'm all for environmentalism and animal welfare, but groups like Green Peace or Peta that resort to radicalism do far more harm than good.

A very simple question to ask, What do you think of Greenpeace? Do you know what they actually do for the nature?
I have mixed feelings about them. I met one of the founding members back in the early 90's. He was a direct action radical, too militant even for Greenpeace and was removed from the organization. A very compelling speaker, but that type of person often is.

They have been successful in achieving the protection of some marine species from exploitation, but they favor their own political agendas over science when it suits them.

I've had really bad experience of these people. They seem to be cynical exploiters of public opinion, addicted to public grandstanding and indifferent to the science if it does not suit their agenda.

My experience relates to this: Brent Spar - Wikipedia
They approach GMO's with indifference to science as well, in my experience.
