    Hi everybody,

I am borrowing from @Laika 's excellent Political Compass Results thread in order to generate this thread for thought and discussion.
Since Trump is about as transparent as ocean floor mud, and as steady as leaves in a storm.....I figured it would be an interesting challenge for each of us to try the test, answering each question as if we were each the Trumpster.
His thought patterns certainly are a bunch of moving targets, but you can utilize speeches, interviews, position statements, cabinet appointments, etc.....in order to get into his mindset. (Shower with bleach afterward as needed.)

Here is the link to the test ---->. https://www.politicalcompass.org/test
Take it like Trump, and we can discuss differences of opinion.....

Here is how I see Trump....and it ain't pretty.
    Economic Left/Right: 6.25
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.74

Being a non- politician, I think Trump reflects most of us more than most politicians do, i.e. he has a wide range of views that are not obliged to fall in line with one political ideology.

he is fairly liberal leaning in terms of some social, trade, foreign intervention, tax issues

He used to identify as Democrat after all.

But in terms of reducing regulation, federal employees, returning power to states, and generally draining the swamp, he is more libertarian, less authoritarian than most Democrats

Here's their estimates from the primaries:

here's a plot of the positions of the senators of all 50 states from 2008--they haven't updated this since. Blue is Dem, Red is GOP, Gray is split.

Perhaps, but I find it interesting how so many people have so many different views of Trump. In particular some see him as having lied his way to the presidency, simply giving the people in the crowd whatever spiel they wanted to hear, but not actually meaning any of it. And perhaps worse, others believe that he did mean every word of it, (even when he contradicted himself).....and voted for him anyway.

Here in this forum, some forsee him as a beatific unifier....others as a torchbearer in a gunpowder factory....a KKK spokesman.....while others see a witless fast-talker who is flabbergasted that he actually won.

Also, as I stated, since he has no voting history/job experience, your linked scorecard for all 4 candidates is likely leadt accuate for Trump in particular.
And lastly, this is about people's perceptions of the man. ;)

This last graph is sad, but what I've been saying for decades now. The democratic party has shifted far to the right of reality, and the entire US government needs to be fixed by a massive upheaval to the left....just to get us started in any reasonable direction.

It's all irrelevant, at least Trump is not Hillary. Will Trump build two walls by using all healthy Americans as forced labor, essentially building a prison between the two walls? Maybe but at least Trump is not Hillary.

Having done this test an insane number of times I'll play along. :D

After consulting my "inner Trump" the result came out as:

    Economic: 5.75 (Right)
    Social: 3. 44 (Authoritarian)

I honestly can never get the same results that Political Compass does for the candidates. I don't know how they arrive at those results, seems like a load of baloney.

    You try it!

their method is explained on the site...but yeah, they don't say which statements and/or actions they are using from each candidate, or exactly how they translate that into an answer for each question. I know in the case of the Senators, they use both actual votes on issues, as well as statements they've made... But their results are pretty consistent, and usually they can point to what changes have occurred in party to move them around over time.

Having tried to get results for Stalin- they've made an assumption that "secular"=liberal, which doesn't apply. They also borrow heavily from the right wing authoritarianism/fascist "f"-scale which includes alot of anti-rationalist stuff such as astrology and so means "left wing authoritarianism" is not accurately represented. The results I get for Stalin mean he's +5/6 on the authoritarian scale just for the way the questions are weighed.

@Daemon Sophic , for some sort of comparision you may want to look at the link below. The one to look out for is Storm Front which is a White Nationalist/neo-nazi site. You can read it as if it were overlapping a political compass.

Can't be done. Which Trump to imitate? He's been on every side of every issue at one time or another.

    It's complicated.
The people on this forum must be losing a lot of sleep, fortunately I am not.

Why are people so worried, since Trump is the most "left" Republican to carry the title of President-Elect in recent times? I find it strange really - he's LGBT tolerant, isn't overly religious (if at all, questionable), and isn't a racist. (Ben Carson, reaching out to black communities, etc.) You should be happy he's the one that won vs. many of the other options. :D

I'll give you that he doesn't like Mexicans or Mexico, but that is a nationality. He certainly doesn't like people from terror states, but five Muslim countries will not allow them in either. (There are only like eleven terror states, if I remember correctly.) Most of the panic is just that, useless panic.

I think turnabout is fair play, they've been upsetting conservatives for about eight years and it's time to balance the scales. It's not anyone's fault but the liberals that they marched so far off the edge of the scale that when someone puts their finger on it to rebalance it they are flung right off.

    Woo hoo!
Gary Johnson's spot is just about identical to my own.

I can get results for Stalin ;)

Also, I disagree with a lot of their estimates. They put Hitler in the blue when I think he should be almost centre between red and blue.

Yeah, it's economically left and right, what did Hitler even do that was economically right-wing? He didn't seem like a big free marketer to me.
