Trump's latest, blatant, deeply unnecessary lie

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
So, plenty of Trumpettes now here (with several noteworthy absentees, who are presumably rehearsing keeping a straight face during their "what idiots voted for him?" speech). We've had misdirection, redirection, whataboutism, well poisoning and ad hominems. None willing to address the blatant and indisputable fact that Trump lied.

youknowme

Whatever you want me to be.
Whataboutism?

This is whataboutism. . .

Trump supporters enjoy being lied to. They'll eat a lie with a smile. Their anointed one can never do wrong

El Paso Fire Department destroys Trump’s dumb lie about his crowd size

Over to the resident Trumpettes for the inevitable goal post shifting and whataboutist defences of this ridiculousness.
Don't get me wrong here... Trump is a moron, with a horrid outlook on his fellow man... but this seems like the most trivial and insignificant "lie" I have ever seen being touted to be so problematic. After reading the article, I'm left with the sense that Trump merely overstated without knowing any of the facts of the situation whatsoever. He was assuming he had a bigger crowd... and that was pretty much it. So he overestimated the actual number he had at his rally, so what? You expected him to what? Be good at estimating or math? Seriously? You should be more surprised if he were able to accurately count the number of fingers on his hands.

In the end... the article and its beef with Trump were EXTREMELY petty. To the point that all I really feel compelled to do is shake my head at the writers of the (obviously biased) article just as hard as I have shaken it at some of Trump's antics.

The left has no sense of humor nor can they get sarcasm. If Trump said, I ate a mile high apple pie, the media would be out with a tape measure to measure the pie and then say Trump lied. I would take this exaggeration as a sense of humor way of saying this pie was huge.

This difference between the left and right has to with wiring in the brain. The left has the optic nerve crossed with the pudendal nerve that is wired to the anus. This gives a crappy outlook to life. This is funny!
The claims of whataboutism would be valid if there were any material
significance to the "lie" claimed in the OP. But crowd size? Meh....
The more useful issue is why on Earth this deserves a thread?
It's like the daily new threads about how Trump was upset about something.
We don't see non-Democrats or pro-Trumpers doing the same when
the newly anointed OAC says the Earth will be destroyed in 12 years.
It too could be called a lie.
Or worse....she could actually believe it.

Me thinks that is Pot calling the kettle black.

Every candidate for both parties is presented as

"Let me introduce the NEXT P[RESIDENT OF THE USA!!!"

(or congress, mayor, sheriff)

And they all say t hey would be better than the others.

I hope that with our new standards for lie detection,
all (but one) who speak so will be publicly thrashed
for lying.

You want the job of counting her lies?

Whatabout a truth commission to track all politicians
every statement, and keep a running count of their lies.

It might actually be worth it.

Woo hoo!
I'm on someone's list!
And this time it doesn't begin with "s*it"!

See? There's some sort of falsehood(s) there.

I did have a point for all that the suggestions is not,
which is that this thing of making every statement
from Trump that is not phrased by a team of lawyers backed by
accountants, statisticians and blah, is now counted
up as yet another "lie".

I hope this is not the way of the future, because there
is not a candidate or politician or anyone else on gods green
earth that could not be similarly identified as a serial liar.

Things run in streaks....ie, a candidate gets associated with something,
& to his detractors, all things look that way....until a new candidate comes
along. "Trump is a liar!" is the lens thru which they view him.
So all things comport with this, no matter how tortured or double standardie
the rationale. They'd never apply the same approach to one of their own.
So Obama, OAC, etc are exempt from their keen lie detection.

It's always been this way. GWB was dumb, but not Al Gore.
Nixon was a crook, but not Johnson. Trump is a sexual predator,
but not Bill Clinton. And so on....
