As your resident Neo-Con, I feel I must observe that the Democrats certainly seemed to be paying very close attention this week, to their credit. I'd say that shows they learned something. That said, I've kidded since the day he was elected that it was going to be a very long 8 years....

That the President speaks like no other president has ever spoken is hardly news. This is coming from a non-American Trump supporter (more or less) before you call me a liberal wingnut. I think your reasons are naively dangerous about anyone, let alone, Trump. That kind of thinking ushered Mao and Stalin into their long bloody careers.

I don't hate him (he's a scumbag and sideshow character but I don't expect anything more from him) and support some of his stances while opposing others, but I probably won't vote for him since many Republican stances violate my principles. Bernie Sanders, for all his misuse of the term, is not a socialist. The reason he and his supporters call themselves 'socialist' is because the right has used the term so long to describe anyone leftward of Ronald Reagan that the term has stuck. At most he is a social democrat.

That's not what socialism is. That's welfare capitalism. Socialism is when the workers own the means of production. So it's more like a factory that's owned by the people who work there or a workplace where the workers democratically manage everything, like a co-op. It's supposed to be a form of direct democracy. Most Americans don't know what socialism or communism (or Fascism) actually is. Our political definitions are based on rhetoric from the Cold War and are all screwed up.
