A rendition by John Williams (yes, the John Williams) of Woodie Guthrie's song This Land is Your Land

EDIT: for some reason, Youtube blocks the live recording, so I added another version

Any anthem is better than the one we have.
I like this one, but I don't think the general public will go for the lyrics....

I'm a planet
In high school we had our own version of that song, tailored to 1980s America:

This land is my land
and it's not your land
I got a shotgun
and you ain't got one
If you don't get off
I'll blow your head off
This land is private property.

Ironically, the original 1940 version of the song has this stanza:

Was a big high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted said: Private Property,
But on the back side it didn't say nothing —
This land was made for you and me.

Woody Guthrie, being an actual socialist, had of course some choice ideas with regards to private property in America.

If we are sharing songs by Woodie Guthrie we have to include this one.

I suppose that Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate He stirred up in that bloodpot of human hearts When he drawed that color line Here at his Beach Haven family project

I just clicked the link to open it in the app(it is age restricted)and that is funny.
Best part is where it shouts books and there is no response

The sentiments seem doubtful for another reason too, though, if one thinks about the history of conquest and expropriation that went behind the formation of the USA (Tejas, California, Native Americans......)

As it did for other nations too, of course: The Welsh and Irish have reason to resent being taken over by England.
