And we have sent down to you the Book (Quran) as an exposition of everything and guidance and a Mercy and Glad Tidings for those who have surrendered (to Allah as Muslims). [Quran, Nahl: 89]
Quran learning is a basic requirement in Islam and while reading Quran one has also to keep in mind the division and the joining of the sentences. While learning Quran we need to utter the words clearly and slowly and read Quran in such a manner to understand the context correctly. Quran learning and understanding has a prime importance. We should not read Quran with a high speed where others cannot understand what we are reciting. The main aspect of recitation is to read Quran with understanding and thought. We should try to keep our eyes in the meanings of every verse we read.
Imam Zain al Abedeen (a.s.) said that, If a person wishes to converse with Allah, he should recite the Quran. When he comes to the passages where Allah addresses the people, he should say labbaek Allahumma labbaek and in the passages where Allah addresses the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W or the people of the earlier times, he should feel that the communication is for his own benefit only. When he reads about the spread of victuals of the Heaven while Quran learning, he should draw pleasure from the very thought of the delicacies. He should visualize that his Friend has made the spread for him. Sometimes Allah recounts His most superior qualities of Beneficence and Sustenance in the Quran, and at other places He talks of the unfathomable treasures of knowledge.
It is also advised to face Kaaba while Quran learning and that one should never ever sit at the back of someone else while reciting Quran.
The Quran (is the) guidance for mankind and Clear Signs for the guidance and the Criterion (between right and wrong). [Quran, Baqara: 185]
