Israeli Ultra-Orthodox Protesters Flee After Counter-Protesters Strip Down To Bras.

Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox Jews clashed with police in Jerusalem over the weekend in protest of the Eurovision Song Contest final, which was held on Shabbat.
The impassioned crowd blocked Haneviim Street and stopped traffic on Saturday, The Times of Israel reported. Protestors attacked officers responding to the demonstration, and one was arrested.

A small group of women held a counter-protest by taking off their shirts, revealing their bras and causing the protesters to go elsewhere.

Here's the quote "Not by might, not by power..." from the Zecharia 4:6 and 4:7.

"Not by might, not by power... whoever you are, great mountain in the path... turn to level ground."

The best part is how verse 4:7 ends... those counter-protest ladies knew what to do. We men are quite predictable. ;):D

Sorry, but I just couldn't keep a straight face with someone wearing a hat like that yelling at me.

    Today I learned:

It only takes a few lacey undergarments to defeat an angry mob of furry hats. Good to know. :)

Useful information for sure.;) The part where the old guy sits down like he's having a tantrum is priceless.

Respectful question: In your opinion, is this an appropriate activity for Shabbos?

As I despise Eurovision, I'm not sure it's ever an appropriate activity. I hold to the view that Israel should be under Torah Law and so yes, this would be prohibited.

I have the same problem; I can't take people seriously who wear what looks like a Liquorice Allsorts on their head.

If you are a non-believer, yes.
Why should non-believers' lives be dictated to by radical religions?

Anyone next year that makes a song based on this will be a guaranteed winner. *Grin*

When you think about last years winner*......

    It all becomes perfectly clear**.

*Squawk like a chicken, make really, I mean really stupid faces , and do bizzare gestures while 'singing'. And this was the winning standard in Eurovision.

**Yep it's an hour long. The song itself isn't an hour thank God. It's probably made to drive home a point and/or make people go insane.

    @Rival ,@Altfish ,

Apologies: I wasn't clear. I wasn't talking about Eurovision. I was talking about the protesters.

Stopping traffic and starting a conflict... aren't these forms of prohibited labor on Shabbos under halachic ( Jewish ) law?

I could be wrong, but I thought that ( generally ) Jewish law prohibits a Jewish person from starting or stopping a process on Shabbos? I remember it as: things in motion need to stay in motion, things at rest need to stay at rest?

Yes, it is permitted as far as I can tell, within the eruv of course they can carry their signs and so on. There may be some problematic aspects about protesting and what can but not necessarily does happen during a protest, but technically a protest is allowed. No problem with stopping traffic as one should not be driving.

I'm not clearly insane. Just a little tipsy.

Edit: FYI, I've died twice on RF so far. Once by Death-RayWarren, and now once by No Where Man.
