Odd band, so not something easy to get into. Early material is Black Metal, and that song is off of one of an album (Nattens Madrigal) considered to have some of the worst production values ever.... though I still enjoy it. Just saying it's not an easy listen. Since then they've become sort of an atmospheric/industrial project, they have also a great album where they put music to William Blake's "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell".

Odd band = nearly everything on me hard disk dude :)

thanks for the link

Blind Guardian- Imaginations from the Other Side

Where are these silent faces
I took them all
They all went away
Now you're alone
To turn out every light so deep in me
Hold on, too late

Will I ever see them back again
Or did they all die by my hand
Or were they killed
By the old evil ghost
Who had taken
The ocean
Of all my dreams
Which were worth to keep
Deep inside my heart
I wish I
Could get them back
From the everflow
Before they'll fade away

Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Out of the dark
Back to the light
Then I'll break down
The walls around my heart
Imaginations from the other side

Where's the ocean's daughter
Was Peter Pan in Mordor
No one's there to keep alive
All these fairy tales
May I return to Oz
Will I meet the "Tin Man"
"Coward Lion" where are you
Without brain the scarecrow's lost
In the middle of the lake
Stranded in the real world
Left in the world
No place for daydreams
Serious life
I fall into
I fall into a dark hole
And I can't come out

Do you know if Merlin did exist
Or Frodo wore the ring
Did Corum kill the gods
Or where's the wonderland
Which young Alice had seen
Or was it just a dream
I knew the answers
Now they're lost for me

Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Out of the dark
Back to the light
Then I'll break down
The walls around my heart
Imaginations from the other side

I hope there is a way back
With my talisman
So I look into myself
Into the days when I was just a child
Come follow me to wonderland
And see the tale that never ends
Don't fear the lion nor the witch
I can't come back
I'm lost but still I know
There is another world

Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Out of the dark
Back to the light
Then I'll break down
The walls around my heart
Imaginations from the other side

SUPER NOT-A-MOD
Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,

And the world will live as one.

Long night mate? You should borrow some of Rebecca's D'n'B, that stuffs the chill groove!

These are the lyrics for Los Heroes Del Silencio's song La Herida, very roughly translated:

It's always the same song, the same spectacle
The same theatre in which so many times one acted
And to lose your mind in such a real game
Perhaps it was an error, cure this pain of mine, please

What is there between two friends when after all has gone by they seem lost and prefer others?
What do lazy hands give, ignoring the given.
When long ago they were close, now they are just being fooled
What made them go away from that intranquil border
So at least for an instant they thought of those days

It's always the same song, the same spectacle
The same theatre in which so many times one acted
And to lose your mind in such a real game
Perhaps it was an error, cure this pain of mine, please

I have always preferred a long kiss, even though I knew it lied, and new it was false.
What the heck happens when looks don't find
The fight of the roosters has been admitted (something idiomatic that I just don't know)
Who looked for a coat in some other place
It's possible that the cold comes with age.

Certainly not as eloquent in spanish as in english, nor as heart wrenching, but you get the idea.

Can't copy and paste from my phone, but here is a link to lyrics of a great song. http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/john-prine/74741.html
All John Prine songs are great songs! My favorite is "Come Back To Us Barbara Lewis Hare Krishna Beauregard":

The last time that I saw her
She was standing in the rain
With her overcoat under her arm
Leaning on a horsehead cane
She said, Carl, take all the money
She called everybody Carl
My spirit’s broke
My mind’s a joke,
And getting up’s real hard

Chorus:
Don’t you know her
When you see her?
She grew up
In your back yard
Come back to us
Barbara lewis
Hare krishna
Beauregard

Selling bibles at the airports
Buying quaaludes on the phone
Hey, you talk about
A paper route
She’s a shut in without a home
God save her, please
She’s nailed her knees
To some drugstore parking lot
Hey, Mr. Brown
Turn the volume down
I believe this evening’s shot

Repeat chorus

Can’t you picture her next thursday?
Can you picture her at all?
In the Hotel Boulderado
At the dark end of the hall
I gotta shake myself and wonder
Why she even bothers me
For if heartaches were commercials
We’d all be on t.v.

Repeat chorus

the johnny cash song, Hurt. the song is moving, but the video even more so.
Best video ever. Can you imagine what it must have been like for Roseanne Cash the first time she saw it?

Paradise

When I was a child my family would travel
Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born
And there's a backwards old town that's often remembered
So many times that my memories are worn.

Chorus:
And Daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking
Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away

Well, sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill.

Repeat Chorus

Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.

Repeat Chorus

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin'
Just five miles away from wherever I am.

Greensleeves- Author Unknown

Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.

Chorus:
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.

Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.

chorus

I have been ready at your hand,
To grant whatever you would crave,
I have both wagered life and land,
Your love and good-will for to have.

chorus

If you intend thus to disdain,
It does the more enrapture me,
And even so, I still remain
A lover in captivity.

chorus

My men were clothed all in green,
And they did ever wait on thee;
All this was gallant to be seen,
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

chorus

Thou couldst desire no earthly thing,
but still thou hadst it readily.
Thy music still to play and sing;
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

chorus

Well, I will pray to God on high,
that thou my constancy mayst see,
And that yet once before I die,
Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me.

chorus

Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.

chorus

When I tried to think of songs that I really connect with, I came up with three right away: "The Joker," "One Toke Over The Line," and "The Storms Are On The Ocean." Excerpts below.

"The Joker"

Some people call me the space cowboy
Some call me the gangster of love
Some people call me Maurice
Cause I speak of the pompatus of love

People talk about me, baby
Say I'm doin' you wrong, doin' you wrong
Well, don't you worry baby
Don't worry
Cause I'm right here, right here, right here, right here at home

Cause I'm a picker
I'm a grinner
I'm a lover
And I'm a sinner
I play my music in the sun

I'm a joker
I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I sure don't want to hurt no one

"One Toke Over The Line"

One toke over the line, sweet Jesus, one toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station, one toke over the line
Waitin' for the train goin' home, sweet Mary
Hoping that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station, one toke over the line

"The Storms Are On The Ocean"

I'm going away to leave you, Love
I'm going away for a while
But I'll return to you some time
If I go ten thousand mile

The storms are on the ocean
The heavens may cease to be
This world may lose its motion, Love
If I prove false to thee

Alternative Greensleeves lyrics, (and probably the better ones too)

It's only been an hour
Since he locked her in the tower
The time has come
He must be undone
By the morning

Many times before
The tyrant's opened up the door
Then someone cries
Still we close our eyes
Not again

Meet me when the sun is in the western skies
The fighting must begin before another someone dies
Cross bows in the fire light
Greensleeves waving
Madman raving
Through the shattered night

Flames are getting higher
Make it leap unto the spire
Draw bright down
Cut it to the ground
We shall dance around the fire

No more night
We have seen the light
Let it shine on bright
Hang him higher

So this is the one song that makes me shiver every time I hear it, no matter how often that may be.I've got a strong connection with this song and I think it's because, anyone who knew me between the ages of 15 and 22 knows that this song could have, pretty much, been written about me and my life growing up. It's actually eerie how much it makes me think of my past.

Mommy's Little Monster by Social Distortion

Mommy's little monster dropped out of school,
Mommy's little monster broke all the rules.
He loves to go out drinking with the boys,
He loves to go out and make some noise.
He doesn't wanna be a doctor or a lawyer, fat rich.
He's 20 years old he quit his job,
Unemployment pays his rent.
His brothers sisters have tasted sweet success,
His parents condemn him, say "his life's a mess!"
He's mommy's little monster, he's not afraid to admit it.
He's mommy's little monster, don't wake him in a fit.
Mommy's little monster shoots methadrine,
Mommy's little monster had sex at 15
She left home for the streets,
She couldn't deal with all that heat.
She had fun with the boys in the band,
In her eyes it will never end.
Her dad asked what happened to her face,
It could have happened in any place.
Her eyes are a deeper blue, she likes her hair that color too.
She can even wear a dress, that doesn't mean she'll ever confess.
She's mommy's little monster
She's mommy's little monster
She's mommy's little monster, Don't take her life away!

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, another song that I really connect with is, oddly enough, another Social Distortion song, I Wasn't Born To Follow. It's a song in hommage to all those old musical heroes that did what they did, changed the way things are musically today, because they didn't like the way things were back then. Mike Ness usually pays tribute to Joe Strummer and Joey Ramone when doing this song live.

When I grow up, gonna be a star
Gonna sing my songs and play my guitar, I’m ready
Gonna change the world, gonna turn the page
Gonna say what I feel, let out this rage, get ready
We’re going down, down to the streets below

Gonna sing the songs of the streets again
Gonna knock me off my feet, so get ready
I’ll sing a song for the fallen angels
This one goes to all the unsung heroes

We’re going down, down to the streets below
Cause don’t you know, I wasn’t born to follow

I realize that in your eyes you got ideas
But I got mine, get ready
Here comes the new generation
Hope they feel and fight the same way as we did

We’re going down, down to the streets below
Cause I wasn’t born, I wasn’t born to follow noo

When I grow up, gonna be a star
Gonna sing my songs and play my guitar, I’m ready
Gonna change the world, gonna turn the page
Gonna say what I feel, let out this rage, get ready
We’re going down, down to the streets below
Cause don’t you know, I wasn’t born to follow
We’re going down, down to the streets below
Cause don’t you know, I wasn’t born to follow

We’re going down, down, down, down
We’re going down, down, down
I said goodbye to the masses, I wasn’t born to follow.

Here's another spanish one (sorry.)- malas intencioned by los heroes

I don't care what you think
Without a doubt I still don't understand
Your costums are lost on me
Between carresses and nicities.

Now I know that you don't understand
We have nothing in common
If I only knew what you wanted
Don't make me change my attitude

And I definitely wouldn't want to use your intentions
And I would rather not think even one more second about you.

They tell me what you do
One by one, they tell me bad stuff about you
Nobody wants to make peace yet
But I can't continue like this.
