Seems strange to me that he is bashing the realists.

He's saying that realists are cocky and over-confident because they 'think' they can get along without being emotionally led, and that they 'think' only they can see true reality because of it.

To me this means that people who believe that all there is to the world is what they can prove have no concept of the true reality.
