Realistic preparations for US Isis attack

Republican talking heads accuse Obama of not doing enough in both Syria and Iraq, but fail to consider what can or cannot be done under present conditions, and don't seem to care about the consequences if things go wrong.

The problem is the enemy keeps moving, doesn't present clear targets, can't be identified because they don't have uniforms, and there is no way to tell if women and children are with them.

Being a Student of Criminal Justice, it is within my understanding that there are more important things on the American Agenda than eliminating problems such as Isis (after all what more what they have to do than fight amongst themselves without it; and not to ignore the fact of the convenient transformation from Al-Qaida to Isis); such as how is the sock market doing? When I was taught that we had the technology to see through 3 miles of rock, yet were still boo-hoeing for not being able to find terrorist cells, it became quite transparent and embarrassing to me.

The last time America went completely isolationist the Japanese woke them up rather abruptly. I know Americans are sick of war, but combating ISIS is still important. Heck, even Canada is in.

If women and children are with an attacking force they are legitimate targets. What says that women and children can not be "under arms".

I don't think that was the intention, but rather the reality that has been a shock-factor for American forces since at least Vietnam. Our society does not like the think of children as fighters, and when it's said it's unknown if women and children are with them, it typically means there is no way of discerning a threat from a non-threat because even what we perceive to be the unlikeliest of threats can a be a major threat. Us even discussing women in children in such a manner only demonstrates just how far out of touch we are with the rest of the world.

Continue limited air strikes and continue arming and training the Kurds and the Iraqi army. Make peace with Assad and strike a deal with Iran.

The original intent of the air strikes was good, but any expanded troops or invasion will strengthen ISIS as many Sunnis will support them.

True, but our planes need to be extra careful. Too many civilian deaths would be bad PR for Obama.

Yeah that is the problem, this administration is more concerned about PR than what is actually going on.

An interesting question is what will be the reaction in Congress if Obama asks for their OK to launch strikes into Syria? Unlike Iraq, we haven't been asked to participate. Also, the only thing I ever see the House truly good at is saying "No!" and whining. In an election year, would they be willing to back strikes in Syria? I'm not sure.

All we know about Republicans is that they allow simple minded talking heads to speak for them, including all accusations and lies.

Could be, Rush has ten times more followers than all of the Fox News talking heads.
