Quran

The Quran, which was revealed 1400 years ago, mentioned facts only recently discovered or proven by scientists. This proves without doubt that the Quran must be the literal word of God, revealed by Him to the Prophet Muhammad, and that the Quran was not authored by Muhammad or by any other human being. The Quran, the last revealed word of God, is the primary source of every Muslim's faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, transactions, law, etc. but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time, it provides guidelines and detailed teachings for a just society, proper human conduct, and an equitable economic system.

What kind of facts does the Koran mention that have only been recently discovered or proven by scientists? Can you give a few examples?

The literal word of God? Doesn't the Quran say some verses are metaphorical?

It doesn't do anything of the sort. Even if the Quran does contain information unknown to it's apparent human author(s), all that would prove is that whenever it was actually written, someone did know it and somehow caused it to be included in the Quran. There is absolutely nothing to prove that any scientific accuracy in the Quran came from any kind of God.

Of course, even before you get to that, you need to demonstrate clearly the information which couldn't have been known to anyone at any time or place the Quran could have been written (or updated). In my past experiences (and those examples here I've been able to read), this actually doesn't go any further and reasonable extrapolation or convoluted translation and interpretation of very generic descriptions.
