It never had any relevance to me for 60 years, but now it has relevance because I need to know what it says in order to engage with Christians in discussions or debates about my religion.
It is also relevant to me because I believe that Jesus was a Messenger or God and a Manifestation of God.

Nineteen centuries of Christian apologetics and not one person noticed! Clearly we are fortunate to have such a singularly perceptive person in our midst.

As for "fishers of men," one wonders why such an image should prove compelling, since the catch is hooked, gutted, scaled and filleted, all for the sake of a collection of unfeeling predators.

if I say to you anything.......of quote
the Source will know that you ....got it

like a fish hook in your ear......the left over scar will be there
like a fish hook in your lip.....the recital betrays you

you can't say you haven't heard such things
your plea of ignorance is gone

if I speak of my own creativity.....only I could say
    you knew better
but then again......if what I said holds ground
then the Source will hold me accountable
    and then ask
    Did you tell anyone else?

and the Carpenter gave a parable of increase....the Mustard Seed

    so...if I hear well
the understanding will increase though I heard only one parable

    I then speak parables

If I recite the parable I was given...that would be quote
If I speak of the increase that happened within me......proselytizing?

And I suppose the fisherman will teach carpentry (sounds fishy).

God is not a good provider (Jews wandering desert, Jews in Hitler's Nazi camp).

God is not attentive (Jesus needed help, and so do a lot more of his children with cancer, and doesn't answer prayers).

    God hides and expects followers.

Perhaps we should not seek forgiveness for our sins? Perhaps we should ask ourselves if we should forgive God?

The source of all things teaches more than fishing, but it is a pity that we can't even learn that.

    The boatbuilders will do that;
    No carpenters, no boat.
    No boat, no fishermen.

All starts with the tree then really.

Carp are fish. Nobody had better claim ignorance because, with this explanation, they understand the morality of fish carpentry.

I was happy to clarify the issue for you. Now, could you please explain it to me?

I say the same, but the 'God-given' is more ironic turn of phrase than heart felt belief in my case.

    the retort is well known.....quote
Let he that has ears ....hear

    I heard.....somewhere
    the Carpenter taught in parables
letting the seed of thought fall where it may

    that is......as a ploy
so the crowd and the Pharisees
    would have to stop
    and think
