What if these these people were around before the advent of video or audio recordings? Should I just post pictures along with links to text?

However, a qeustion, why the dot on the forehead? That is a Hindu thing. I do not think Buddha ever put a dot on his forehead. That is done after some one worships a deity. Buddha did not believe in deities. :)

For me, it was his books; "Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander" and, "A Thomas Merton Reader". But this video is a nice introduction to Thomas Merton. A am a philosophical Christian/Taoist mostly by way of Merton and Lao Tzu.
