Reason, and reason again
In regard to ALL the issues, how do you view the DNC on a phony liberal scale? Since the term Democrat can be applied to everyone from Gravel to Clinton to Lieberman, I'm asking for you to pick up a very large brush.

I got this idea from disenfranchised conservatives who are sick of the neo-con/Religious Right led GOP and want to return to a more libertarian-based party.

I think it's basically conservative. It's members talk about liberal issues, but in actuality it's behavior is still mostly conservative. I see little distinction between democratic politicians and republicans. I think the changes we need in this country will not come from either major party, and American voters are going to have an uphill battle if they ever hope to take the country back from the wealthy elite that currently hold all the power. It saddens me to be so pessimistic about the future of my own nation.

I really don't know how to answer this question. On a wide variety of issues, the Dems are more liberal than the Repubs. I agree that the Dems leave much to be desired in terms of liberalism but I strongly disagree with the argument that they are not significantly different from the Repubs. For those who claimed that there was no difference between Gore and Bush, there is NO WAY we would be in Iraq now if Gore had been president. We likely would have gone to war against Afghanistan, but not Iraq.

Having said that, when it comes to populism and sticking up for those who most need it, yeah, there isn't much difference between the two.
