Thanks to my wife and other women, I'm more more liable to notice and be bothered by it than I was in my youth.
Why would you make such a spurious accusation,
ya mangy, butt sniff'n, flea bitten, toilet bowl drink'n,
mixed breed, unhouse broken curbstone setter?
I've perused multiple studies in the past. Among the problems...
- Dogs trained to detect now legal substances, eg, pot.
- Clever Hans effect.
- Corrupt handlers triggering the dog to alert.
- Roadside distractions, eg, smells, activity, noise.
- Poorly trained handlers.
- Poorly trained K9s.
- Cocaine being on most money.
If cops can't tell the difference between Krispy Kreme
glaze & crystal meth, how can we rely upon them using
coke sniffing dogs?

Also in some states if you carry too much cash they can and will take it.
It can happen in every state, even those with
civil forfeiture reform laws on the books.
How?

It is absolutely pathetic that happened. This seriously screams don't let them search because they are anticipating finding something, even if it's a legal substance (I knew someone who spent a bit of time in jail over oregano).
It seems that this is yet another human rights abuse which is a direct consequence of the War on Drugs.
If not for the War on Drugs, what else would they search people for?
When arrest is the goal, even spices
& donuts become illegal drugs, eh.
Tis a travesty & a great danger that such
dumb & corrupt cops have so much power.
Guns, cash, porn, & the pleasure of subjugating someone.
Yeah, although (most) guns, cash, and (most) porn are already legal.
Doesn't mean they won't search for them.
But the War On Drugs is indeed a big instigator.
Well, they could always go with the old stand-by of "a car matching this description was seen at a robbery..."
I imagine they didn't need to do stuff like pull people over and search them back before there were automobiles. Who's going to want to search a horse for drugs?
I speculate that cops would still challenge
anyone they wanted. Alas, body cam footage
from the 1800s is rare.
