I think thats a fancy way of saying "I know Im going to die soon'" We have been predicting the end of times for yeearrs.

It's a metaphor. If you're going to say "a thousand years equals a day", then you can't ignore the other part of the verse that says "a day equals a thousand years". So you'd be as justified in saying that 6,000 years equals 6 days as you would in saying that every day of those 6,000 years equals its own 1,000 years (which would equal over 2 billion days).
