I just watched the 6pm news here in Aus and it was the 4th story after a politicians assistant being arrested for sexual assault, a police operation against an organised crime gang and the Aussie PM meeting the U.S. Pres. Nobody is shocked anymore, it's just what happens.
The story goes that the shooter is a firearms instructor so background checks are i guess sufficient for the job, and he must have enough guns not to steal any

You’re a conservative. You have been making statements about how government is evil. So how does it get paid for? Lip service is free. What you are saying costs money. So your answer is?
Your prediction includes paid off conservatives who will ignore the protests and demands for change. Status quo. More citizen deaths.

What's to change. It would be impossible to take the firearms from the US population. Many would just make them in their garages.

There's an old truism that if you find yourself in a hole, the first thing is to stop digging.
The hole that you're in, is trying to disarm 'we the people' ..................... It would be easier to make everyone turn into muslims and requiring them to kiss the dirt 5 times a day.
Reducing gun ownership over time and vet which persons can own a gun, is the best start.
