The Canadian withdrawal really had nothing to do with Keystone but a lot to do with the new administration there.

No it didn't, but it's an easy way for Obama to signal his displeasure with the lack of support, and sends a warning to anyone else considering leaving. Not blowing up ISIS has economic ramifications.

I don't agree as there were indications that he was opposing it long before the Canadians pulled out.

So much for that. Westminster unilaterally removed our Government's ability to fund new renewables projects after certain dates.

This, along with the Tories' removal of funding for most most other renewable energy projects is a part of Cameron's drive to further tie all of Britain to the fossil fuel industry - even if we don't want it. It's not going to be pretty.
