Then you have to reject the Trinity. See below.
1 Corinthians 4:6 (NIV))
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.
After Paul's first visit to Corinth, to establish the "Church" he discovered that the church was in the process of splitting with some factions claiming they belonged to "Paul" others to "Peter" and still others claiming to have
a relationship with "JESUS" that no other group had.
Pauls declaration n
ot to go beyond what is written ( or set down) was intended to bring the Church back to the faith and away from all the factions that were splitting the Church through the different interpretations and claims of authority.
As per philosophy professor Peter Kreeft advises, "We do not have the authority to edit the words of GOD", which was what was happening in Corinth - and following Father Martin Luther's posting of the 99 thesis.
-claims of private authority happens when people force fit this verse into a box. The focus of the verses is on authority of the Church, it does not support sola scriptura.
If you outright reject "development of doctrine" you need to be less wreckless.
Widely-respected Protestant historian Philip Schaff: In his General Introduction to his multi-volume
History of the Christian Church (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1975, rep. of 1910 ed. from Scribner's, New York, p. 10), he writes
:. . . the mind of the Church has gradually apprehended and unfolded the divine truths of revelation, . . . the teachings of scripture have been formulated and shaped into dogmas, and grown into creeds and confessions of faith, or systems of doctrine stamped with public authority. This growth of the church in the knowledge off the infallible word of God is a constant struggle against error, misbelief, and unbelief; and the history of heresies is an essential part of the history of doctrines.
Every important dogma now professed by the Christian church is the result of a severe conflict with error. The doctrine of the holy Trinity, for instance, was believed from the beginning, but it required, in addition to the preparatory labors of the ante-Nicene age, fifty years of controversy, in which the strongest intellects were absorbed, until it was brought to the clear expression of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed. The Christological conflict was equally long and intense, until it was brought to a settlement by the council of Chalcedon.
Most Protestant apologists or students of history are well-acquainted with the outlines of Church history and the early theological struggles to define orthodoxy. To reiterate, then:
the existence of doctrinal development itself it is not a Protestant-Catholic argument; the real dispute is over which particular doctrines are the legitimate developments.
The catholic organization had repeatedly done this, creating rules where there aren't any.
Can you name an unnecessary rule or are you just being angry?
If you are happy following the doctrines of men, that is your choice. I choose to put my faith and trust in God's word alone. I will never EVER trust in the teachings of men..
Please...once and for all...define "teachings of men". The Holy Spirit prevent's the Church from teaching error. Sola scriptura is a reformist doctrine yet you claim you are not a Protestant. If anything is a teaching of men, sola scriptura is a teaching of Martin Luther, and is not in the Bible, which you follow
Catholic misrepresentations? LOL Now that is funny! Sounds like what other false religions say all the time.
Catholic misrepresentations thrive all over the 'net. It's one reason why so many are misinformed.
Interesting how Satan knows our weakest point. He attacks the word of God, and people let him get away with it. He started using that strategy in the garden when he changed just ONE of God's words when God was speaking about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told Adam & Eve that if they ate of it, "You shalt surely die." Satan said, "You shalt NOT surely die."
My bible says the same thing. What's your point?
Shall I list some of the ways the RCO has changed God's word?
You can get lots of help from the Seventh Day Adventists.
Do you really believe that God speaks directly to the Pope? That God gives him new revelations?
No, but that statement exemplifies your prejudice and ignorance. God doesn't speak directly to the Pope.
