Meaning that people can't disagree often but have to do it by crude means.
Based on sexual orientation there will be either abuses, bashing or telling how disgusting it is.
Caste issues in India are still not resolved. Often they can create an atmosphere of hate and assaults.
Also ethnicity can provoke mockery and hate in my environment.
Etc.
Bottom line is that, even though not 7.1 billion people but often arises situations when everyone you meet hates you or wants you dead (gay men in Uganda and Nigeria and middle east) and online bullying too puts a heavy burden of hate on a person.
That person might not be me nonetheless, they do exist in many areas. So, gradually they grow up with a sense that everyone hates them for being who they are.
In such a state what should one do?
