That's quite a list. Would it not be wiser to look for a God whom you would conform to His/Her beliefs instead of imposing your beliefs on Him/Her?

Didn't review thread. Thoughts include: Ba'hai and Reform Judaism.

    Hi Zoogirl

I don't think this is the right approach, listing your free-floating beliefs in bullet form and then trying to shoehorn them into a religion. Maybe you should read about the various religions and then wait for your free-floating bleiefs to appear in them. Also, from a practical perspective, you should be aware that your choice will be somewhat determined by the availability of a church/temple/mosque/synagogue etc. in your area. It would be a shame to discover that your found religion is Buddhism but with no Buddhist organizations near you.

    Good luck.

I find Belief-O-Matic kind of annoying. I don't like some of the questions or the way the questions and answers are presented, and it seems to overlook some of the things it should be addressing.

But my results are usually pretty accurate; that is, if I get 70% or above for a particular religion, it's usually one I don't have a lot of negative feelings about. Last time I got 100% for Theravada and 95% for UU, but it varies every time.

Yeah, it might be better to just to dabble without making a commitment. I don't see anything wrong with experiencing a whole bunch of different religions, though, and maybe she feels she has to get right in there to experience it. However in my experience it takes a while to gain any real experience anyway. It took me several years with Orthodoxy, and it's taking several years with Buddhism, too. Internalization is a slow process. On the other hand, it's hard to reverse. I've resigned myself to the fact that despite the fact that I'm not Orthodox and not a member of a traditionally Orthodox ethnic group, I'm probably going to feel culturally Orthodox for the rest of my life. I don't mind it, though. :)

You definitely sound like a UU.

I remember I had the same issues too. I had no idea what catergory I fit into... I went from Mormon to Wiccan to UU to Buddhism. It wasn't until I watched the TV show, Ancient Aliens, when I realized what it was I truely believed... The Ancient Astronaut Theory... of course... it's only a theory... But a good one! :p

Her beliefs are not really Islamic: No hell, religious pluralism (there is more than one way to God), and God does not punish if you do not worship.

All I can say is that you should "follow what your heart really desires". I must say that you are the master of your own self. Only you can decide on whatever religion that you wish to follow.;)
