How don't any of them die? Because in the Addams Family TV show Death (poor man's Rick Moranis) was after Gomez and the latter didn't want to die.

I've only seen the film, but I don't think they are involved in the occult. Morticia and her husband and daughter are able to animate dead people. It must be through some family secret recipe or other biological method. It appears that some mania and eccentricity are a side effect....and possibly the mirror neurons don't survive the process. I suspect the mirror neurons, because it seems like no one in the Adams Family understands what other people are feeling. They seem to be guessing at that and very badly.
