Homosexuality & Religion

This crap heats my filament. If god wanted yes-men, we'd all be "hail god;" and if we all still followed "the law;" it would be all sackcloth-and-ashes, blood-on-the-linament... and running my neck online on a Sunday?!?! Get the hibatchi out, we've got a live one...
For a gross simplification, science does the who-what-when-where, and religion does the why. Why is homosexuality "an offense to god?" First off, ain't no "fruitful and multiplying" going on; but the real reason - the "hidden agenda," if you will - is elitism. With religion (generallly), first, there's us; then, there's them. And we can't sit around all day talking about how great we are - that don't fill the pews. But talk about them, talk about sin, talk about burning - hey, I ain't the messiah, but I ain't one of them - and that's the kind of talk, fills the congegration, gets a Word - spread.
Why?
Back in the day, such activities were considered "a sign" of the decadence of Greek and Roman culture - a culture that just so happened to be the target audience of "a new gospel." What about slavery? Nah, too common. Circumsision - hurts... Not my pornography, not your usury; and with the beard, Jupiter looks like Moses... how about - gay bashing?
Some "entertainments" never go out of style. I don't like it, you don't like it... it's actually kind of creepy, so...
Love.
God don't say "choose hetero, or choose fire;" god says, "choose life." Who says that one must abhor the homosexual?
And was that before or after Paul wrote his letter to the Romans?
Tell you what; if you're my gender, and you're attention lingers past my denial - there may be some knuckle action - but, otherwise...
Sex and gender are two very distinct things; and if I was a betting man, I'd bet my left ... that Jesus was speaking of gender when he stated that "man + woman = image of god."

What if I were to argue that God created homosexuals because he wanted some guys with good taste and manners?

evreything has made in balance, what kind of benife we can get from homosexuality? its a kind of sickness ....

They benefit from desired companionship, and no accidental pregnancies.

How is the worship of an inactive, invisible sky daddy and the blind adherence to rigid, irrational superstition beneficial? That's the real sickness.
think , if all people do that , what will happen to us? of course, human being gonna vanish on this earth ... be logic mix
This has to be the most retarded argument ever. The world isn't going to all magically become homosexual, so it's entirely irrelevant. Besides, there's always artificial insemination. Also, humanity isn't an insect colony. There's more to life than mindlessly propagating.

That's funny. I would contend that if we "dropped the ball," god just might elevate some cockroaches.
What benefits are given to society by homosexuality? Besides the fact that we've passed the "fruitful multiplying" stage? Beside the general condition that a male of this species has a thing with "holes in the wall, and snakes," and the original tolerance of this activity derived from the military? Besides the fact that being a man in gender is a little different from being a man sexually, and as a gay acquantance once told me, "who can better understand the emotions of a man, than another man?" Besides the fact that when god wanted to describe just how "beyond understanding" he was in the Book of Job, he continually referred to the natural environment of the time (still haven't encountered an auroch) and thus implied than "natural" means "exists in nature?"
Besides the fact that Jesus said, " take that plank out of your own eye;" and Godel said that mathematics is not, in itself, a complete system... I would hereby testify (that's how Christians do it, right?) that my life experience has been enriched by those who thus align, and love, and live...

Homosexuals benefit from their feelings by having loving relationships with their partners. We all benefit from homosexuals because we have a more diverse human population. Homosexuals are more likely to adopt because many cannot have kids of their own. Homosexuals are good people and they generally benefit society a lot.

Homosexuality is bad in the terms of evolution, natural selection, and survival of the fittest, because they are less likely to have children, but the way nature is is not a good model for human society. According to this reasoning, contraceptives are wrong.

If everyone was a homosexual, we would be in trouble. That is never going to happen so it is not a legitimate concern.

The real effect of homosexuals is that the human population will increase at a slightly lower rate than it would have and has the same effect on human population numbers as increased contraceptive use. Taking into account that the human population will hit 9 billion by around 2050 and that we are draining our water and land supply, fewer kids may be a good thing.

Well, homosexuals are more likely to adopt that heteros. It can also keep population growth down. Other than that I do not see any other benefits.

What benefits are given to society by heterosexuality? What benefits are given to society by the archaic rituals and arbitrary rules of your superstition?

Um hello? Lesbian porn?

lol jk.
Oh I think this is a perfectly valid point. (not just because it's popular in my household).

The hypocrisy of men who decry Gay males as "squicky" yet will drool idiotically over fantasy versions of lesbians is very telling IMHO.

Not to mention, they are fine for males personal wish fulfillment, but they can't have rights to live beyond that fantasy.

Yeah, it's rather annoying when people are oblivious to their own hypocrisy and can't differentiate between personal taste and morality.

Father Heaven, every time I look at your avatar it reminds me of the old Legend of Zelda cartoon. Maybe it's just because i'm a bigger nerd than even many boys can claim to be.

What's it from?
