Homosexuality in the Bible.

Does it actually say anything against homosexuality.

The whole abomination bit is irrelevant to me....that just meant against tradition or against the "norm", not necessarily bad.

Leviticus says we should be put to death. That's a bit stronger than "it's kinda weird."

Yes, there are laws in the bible telling of how to punish homosexuals, such as stoning them to death.

If you must have chapter and verse, why don't you go to Bible Gateway or Skeptic's Annotated Bible and do a search?

Wouldn't know what to search. The word homosexuality isn't used at all. Plus different versions say differen things. Wanted to know which ones people quoted, from what version.

Leviticus also says that disobedient children should be put to death, it doesn't mean that people execute disobedient children. Just wanted to give some perspective on ancient near eastern codes, which were rich in ideological content and not necessarily literal rules to follow.

Oh, I know, sweetie. I was just answering the question as presented.

Nice of you to give that perspective. Thank you.

A lot of the Bible seems to be like that. Cultural influences changed everything.

Its all the abomination thing again.
They were a culture of people trying to expand and grow, so homosexuality would have been hated and looked down on.
But the culture of today, we don't need anymore people. So homosexuality wouldn't be so horribly shown as in that verse.

Seems to me that you are going to have to go ask God what his problem is with homosexuals.

Unless of course you think there is someone on this planet that actually does speak for god...

Yes, the Bible says that it is am abomination and that those who engage in such acts are to be killed.

If you are looking for the reason(s) the Bible makes such a statement, then you are going to have to talk to god and get him to tell you, because the Bible offers no such explanation.

There is nothing in the Bible dealing with homosexuality. Homosexuality is a sexual preference or orientation. The ancients knew nothing of sexual preference. They just didn't think in those terms. Heck, we didn't begin thinking in those terms until the last century. What the ancients were dealing with were acts that were seen as "abnormal." In the OT, those acts were committed by males, and were seen as acts of domination or subjugation.

That makes sense to me.
