Nehustan said:Ohhh, I thought it was one of the most important days, I seem to recall it being.
Nehustan said:Am I right in recalling that at the moment that John baptised Jesus in the Jordan, the spirit (dove) descended upon him? If so this should be a very important day (i.e. Pentecost) as it means that effectively they became 'Christians' in the truest sense as the dove then descended upon them as it had on Jesus?

Nehustan said:Your right it is, what I meant is that the spirit descending on Jesus was an important stage in his ministry (Am I wrong?), and thus when the same event happened to the disciples, it was thus also a very important event?
(see it's turned into a debate )
spacemonkey said:I'm no expert on this, but something seems to tell me it is the Pentecostals who make a big deal about the date of Pentecost. I went to Catholic school for several years in grade school (about 20 years ago) and I don't recall ever celebrating or even recognizing it for that matter. Of course it is summertime.....still, seems like my family would have recognized the date if it was an important one to the Catholic faith.
