From what I can tell, the animal rights group Animal Aid is pretending to be selling dog meat to spread the message of animal suffering and to convince people to take up veganism.

Selling dog meat? I wouldn't eat it, but some do.

We're conditioned not to like dog, but I'm otherwise OK with your eating spaniel spaetzle.

I don't see how it would be any different than eating other animals.

Thats right its a gimmick to get people thinking about where their food or meat in particular actually comes from. I regularly tuck into Lamb chops but totally ignore the cute little thing that was frolicking around a field a few days before.

.* Our ‘dog meat’ stall will attempt to engage the public in a discussion about the way animals raised for food are killed and why certain animals are deemed unworthy of our compassion while others are treated as part of the family.

The difference I think is that canines can form a bond of loyalty and trust and can display affection and empathy; they can read and react to human emotions and can experience and express their own. I'm fairly certain chickens and fish cannot.
