Glen Beck is a genius, honestly.

Revolting you seriously ought to watch some Glenn Beck clips on youtube. He's sheer comedy and epic failure all rolled into one!
I have a weak stomach, & from what I hear about him, it might become revolting too.

As long as you don't act like a total douche.
So much for being nice to me.
You could sure use a sense of propriety & humor, Pinkerton.

You really ought to listen to some Beck before pronouncing everyone's view of him as lacking balance.

It's all about the stomach....it won't allow me to watch Beck.
Anyway, the tip-off about lack of balance was the complete & strident lack of balance.

Done here.
I was judging it based on what I know about his audience. They don't like Mormons and think they're a false religion and aren't Christians.
My parents and aunt are right-wing Christian fundamentalists and Glenn Beck fans. They believe that Mormonism is a cult and Mormons are bound for hell unless they repent and become true Christians; however, they also believe a political alliance with the Mormons is expedient.

They also like Mitt Romney for president, and my mother did in 2008, too. (My dad liked Fred Thompson in 2008, and I think my aunt liked Huckabee. They all had to hold their noses to vote for McCain in the general election, as they consider him a raging liberal.)

However, I still maintain that the real reason my mother likes Mitt Romney is that he looks kind of like Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

Either way, they're willing to look past his and Beck's Mormonism.

Well for a bunch of people who "don't like Mormons," they sure showed up in droves for his rally a few days ago - tens of thousands of people. His books are consistently at the top of the best seller lists, and his show enjoys great ratings.

I bet if you informed them that he is a Mormon they'd think differently. And there were conservative bloggers out there who were saying to not be too friendly to Beck because of his Mormon beliefs.

Apparently the fact that he's Mormon (along with Mitt Romney, who is also popular with many Christian conservatives) doesn't seem to bother the Christian Right very much at all.

That's probably because most Christians are not as judgmental and narrow minded as some would like to believe.
Psst news flash. I'm not talking about "most Christians." I'm talking about right wing Christian's. His viewers. Did you forget I am a Christian?

LittlePinky, if your "Get a clue." was directed at me then I find you very confrontational as you really don't have any basis to say that to me as you don't know me at all to know whether I have a clue or not.
I don't think I will waste my time giving you any of the valid points he does have as you seem to be very closed minded about things and so it would be a waste of both of our time.

Lol yet you still bothered to "waste your time." Blah blah blah. And like I said: valid points my butt. Now he's going around spreading b.s. history about my ancestors (Native Americans). He's such a crock. Oh and his b.s. on "history" is *gasps* Mormonism! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE6mft9TnLc Is this some of your "valid points"? Rewriting history?

So they're hypocrites.

Lol McCain a liberal? Snark.

Sorry dunno who the dude is. So they're just hypocrites.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Good grief, Pinkston - do you eat with the same mouth you talk with - or in this case, do you pick up a hamburger with the same fingers you type with? Why so bitter all the time?

Have some compassion Kathryn, it's tough being a communist in a capitalist society. :p

Beck's genius comes in him taking the radio DJ "shock jock" style and transferring it successfully to a television format. After all this is the guy that called up the wife of a former friend after a miscarriage and proceeded to make fun of her on the air. Those radio DJ's from the '80's perfected the art of obnoxiousness and marketing to make money for their company.

Reading through some of the material that Beck promotes on his show such as Skousen's 5000 year leap is a mixture of no kidding obvious statements about the basic functions of a republican government and heavy handed religious sermons. Not much substance.

Any personal attacks, such as this, will be reported. No response from me. I fight back by reporting you. And if you keep doing that I'll keep reporting. My only warning.

And now he's going around rewriting history with the Native's.

I don't know about rewriting. I can actually agree with some of what I read in Skousen's works but only the generalities in regards to the Constitution. All of his religious views regarding this country I find completely wrong.

As far as Beck, I stopped listening to him even out of sheer entertainment some time ago. His views regarding US history left much to be desired as I remember. I do recall flipping over to his show about two or three weeks ago and he was rambling about some late 19th century book regarding socialism, Woodrow Wilson and ..... six degrees of Kevin Bacon for all I could follow.

I think the man's gone nuts. Put a jockstrap on his head.

LP, if you consider this a personal attack, please by all means report it.

I asked Kathryn to cut you some slack, geeze!

It would be helpful if you actually read what I said. No where did I indicate I saw it as such. I just gave a warning to you too since you were conversing back and forth to her personal attack.

Has he gone nuts or is it all just a game? I put a quote from him earlier in the thread basically saying you're the one who is nuts if you take anything he says seriously. The rewriting history I posted a video to that somewhere in the thread. Not too far back (maybe a page?). It's all Mormonism. The belief that the Native's are decedents from Israel. He also claims there wasn't much violence towards the Native's which is pure nonsense.

Pinkledink, you take this stuff WAY too seriously! Go ahead and report me. The hosts have a pretty good understanding of my general demeanor and personality and I'm sure they'll be quite fair -as usual.

I don't find nicknames the least bit abusive. Others give'm to me & I reciprocate....tis great fun.
Humor is the lubricant which keeps this place from turning into a screechfest.
