Here are a few scriptures:
Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee. Deuteronomy 16:17
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. - Mark 12:41 - 44

The thing that makes it hard for me right now, are my family obligations. Everything I have goes to my kids /family, so you could say I give everything... but some might think this is not really giving because it is all staying in the fam. (we give to charities etc. etc. too, but most of it stays in the fam). If I did not have kids / husband / parents / grandparents etc. etc. I'm not sure how I would live / what I would give - I'm not sure that I would ever remain long without any family/friends around to take care of....
