Frog Pond News

I once had an in-ground swimming pool.
I used it seldom, & hated maintaining it.
And so it became a frog pond.

The goldfish made it thru the winter (-20F at one point), & are now fat & frisky.
The Duckworths have arrived (a pair of ducks who visit each spring).
And my various water plants are beginning to emerge.
The frogs are in nearby wetlands singing away, & should arrive soon.

It would have been a popular site for my daughter, as a child she loved to visit frog ponds, she would imitate them and always managed to catch a few. She actually rescued a frog from a snake.

With a few snapping turtles you might be able to create your very own ecosystem.

I had a pond in my garden with goldfishes and everything.
One day I planted a umbrella papyrus (cyperus alternifolius) in the middle....after few months it absorbed all the water.

You turn a pool into a pond and most county folk turn a pond into a pool.

What species of froggies do you have?

Turtles wont survive if it has a cement bottom. is it cement?

Do NOT put catfish in there!!!!

Snap turtles are mostly vegetarian.

I'll bet they eat 80% of the mosquito eggs. That probably leaves a million or so to hatch and suck the blood out of you and your neighbors.
I asked the goldfish to eat only the ones which would bother me.
