Fate of the Earth

I saw yet another “climate change will ruin everything” post. I also just finished some Bible reading with the family

Isa 13:
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

So this is coming why would I worry about the little stuff?

Thoughts?

I’m all for making wise decisions, but if my house was going to be demolished next week I would not be painting it today.

The demands to “save the earth” often require drastic measures and all but changing religions.

the best we can do is try. do what we can where we can when we can. no you probly wouldnt paint it but if a tree fell on it you might remove it and patch the hole so you wouldnt get rained on for the remaining week before your house was demolished.

or maybe you wouldnt. in that case u mind as well go live in the woods tonight haha

Yea. I’m all for trying to do well, but the extremes being preached that will likely result in many of the poor and elderly freezing this winter I can’t buy into.

I’m a behavioral guy. I’ve thought it interesting that Al Gore and many others who sell climate alarmism have expensive property in places they claim are about to be destroyed.
I love improving efficiency, but I’m not into the extremes that harm people

Good question.
Then there is this...

...But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
2 Peter 3:10-13

While we are called to be good stewards taking care of this earth, which belongs to the Creator not us, there is I think more important priorities.

“Life is short, eternity is forever “

I happen to believe we're living in the "end times" but not a literal Biblical one. We have disease, another war in Europe (both shooting and economic), floods, drought, fires, institutions in trouble, economic problems, waves of anger and fear and heaven knows what else.

There is pain in birth especially when the new world/golden age promised in all revealed religions is being born. For the new to be born, the old must go and it does not go willingly. But we can help minimize the pain by our deeds, words and thoughts.

The Earth, in many passages, can mean people as in Genesis 11:1.
Certainly, the planet is not going anywhere! (Ecclesiastes 1:4)
Otherwise, Jesus’ words at Matthew 5:5 would mean nothing…“the meek” could not “inherit the Earth.”

Certain people will be gotten rid of, though. Psalms 37 9-11,29

Necessity is the mother of invention. Although we are screwing up the earth with manmade climate change, as thing get seriouisly bad, human ingenuity will come up with ways to survive. It may not be the same kind of world as a century ago, but it will be a world in which humans live. It will be a world in which YOU live. Thus, the choices you and I make still matter, whether they are small choices like whether to lose patience with a nosy neighbor, or big choices like electing officials who will pass climate friendly laws.

But would you purposely trash your house if you knew that someday (just not when) it would be destroyed?

Ecclesiastes 3:19. We all share one breath.

If you are "clean-living", then you are not to blame.

I do sense a degree of skepticism in your posts as if "I don't care".
You should care. Almighty God has made us vicegerents of the earth.
I hope you are not in govt.

I don't think anyone is saying Grandma should freeze to avoid using fossil fuels. She would likely too anyway because folks who do freeze in the winter typically are poor, and ghere are politicians who oppose welfare programs.

Also, if it gets to the point where people are freezing in the winter from obsolete fossil fuel heating systems, it's likely from kicking the can down the road.

Eventually my house will fall to pieces. But until it does, My family has to live in it. So I don't just urinate and defecate wherever I feel like it. Out of respect for the gift of having a house to live in, for one thing. And out of respect for my family. And out of respect for myself.

How incredibly selfish and stupid would I have to be, to think doing that is ok?

Ad hominem. A person's behavior shouldn't figure into sound and valid arguments.
