You know, I've just typed several responses, and back spaced the whole thing, trying to come up with something. But there's just no words to describe the level of illogical insanity to this way of thinking.

An unfortunate hangover from patriarchy and misogyny? Perhaps ethics derived from a particular Western religion? The general *****-upedness of insurance in America in general?

To which way of thinking?
There are only so many men who get viagra.
However, the vast majority of birth control pills are prescribed for reasons that have nothing to do with birth control. therefore there are tons and tons of women being prescribed birth control.
So from the insurance companies PoV it boils down to they do not want to put out that kind of money to cover all those prescriptions.

Now why is viagra covered in the first place?
because there are not enough prescriptions for it to seriously effect the insurance companies bottom line.

That's my problem. It's all about the money, and not the health. Chris Rock said it. It was said in House. Medicine is about money, it's a business. And, it shouldn't be this way. It's corporate greed that makes it like this.

ED Myth No. 4: Erectile Dysfunction Only Affects Older Men

Truth: While older men have a higher incidence of erectile dysfunction, impotence can happen to men of any age. Younger men who have diabetes, high blood pressure, or cardiovascular problems are at particularly high risk.

diabetes is becoming a epidemic in this country

Type II diabetes is most common in adults but more teens have type II diabetes now than ever before.
