How about we just charge the producers of fossil fuel products whatever it currently costs to sequester and permanently dispose of the waste products of fossil carbon? They can pass the costs on to consumers. That's the free market solution to the problem of fossil fuel exhaust.
Tom
I don't follow what you are saying. How will you calculate those costs?

How is "anaerobic bacterium" going to help with fighter jets and CO2 emissions?
Rev and you were talking about a 100 billion tax on petroleum. I didn't think that was likely to ever happen. A fast growing bacterium with a hunger for petroleum would automatically make it more scarce and despite the difficulty of implementation would be at least as effective as the pipe dream of a 100billion dollar tax.

This is not a topic meant for people to have a go at either Nation (or Trump), but simply whether people think there will eventually be war or not. And by war I mean with weapons, so not an economic war as that is already happening.

Opinions of why you think either way are appreciated. But try to keep it civilized and keep the opinions as objective as possible, as that would make it more interesting. :D
There won't be a war for multiple reasons. The fear-mongerers will continue to fan the flames of war, even while they are blaming the US, but it won't happen.....and, no, an airstrike or a couple of minings isn't a war.

Figure out how much carbon is in a gallon of gasoline.
Figure out how much it costs, given current technology, to remove that much from the air.
Add the cost to a gallon of gasoline.
Or require closed systems for burning it, so it doesn't pollute the atmosphere for the people who didn't pump, sell, or use it.

Rev and you were talking about a 100 billion tax on petroleum.
No, $100/barrel. Not 100 billion.
That's undoubtedly insufficient to cover the actual costs of using the petroleum, including waste disposal. But it would go a long way towards improving the economic viability of sustainable energy.
The single biggest reason that fossil fuels are more economical than sustainable energy is because users can generally dump their waste products without cost to them.

Require users to clean up their own mess and fossil fuels are extremely expensive to the users. Allowing fossil fuel users to dispose of the emissions for free is a huge subsidy, without which the fuel wouldn't be all that attractive.

Heh.
You remind me of my late father.
Back in late 2002, he encouraged a young relative to join the military.

"By the time you get out of training the Iraq Invasion will be over! If you're lucky you'll get a cushy post in Baghdad."

Lemme guess: You hated your father because he didn't understand, much less except, your sexual issues. Am I close?

The military isn't for everyone. This isn't the 1960s. My step-grandson has some personal issues and his parents were encouraging him to join the military since we have several veterans in the family. I was against pushing him to join if he didn't have a passion for it since it could easily screw up his life more if he went in and left with an OTH or worse than if he just bummed around for a few years.

Eff you and your mind reading.

Translation: You're correct.

Dude, you are your own person. NEVER let anyone take that away from you. We all have our problems, we all have our pasts and NO ONE ever picked their parents. What we do have is a choice to live our own lives despite all of those things.

You have a choice: To consider this advice, to continue hating everyone who disagrees with you/who you feel threatened by or any other option of your choosing. Your choice.

I think that there will.
Iran has a bunch of accessible petroleum. As the global demand increases and easily accessible sources dwindle, major powers will go to war for control of those sources.

I think that's already started. It's why the USA invaded Iraq. It's why we're protecting Kuwait and KSA and such. It's why so many people want a war with Iran. It's why Russia wanted a weak and divisive US President, beholden to Putin.
It's already started.
Tom

The oil business HATES a war zone. If Trump and his clowns haven't figured that out yet, shame on them.

Why do you think Iraq still hasn't caught up to prewar production or Libya either?

No, actually.
My father passed a few years ago and my 91 year old mother is on her death bed as we speak.
Guessing that I hate either of them will get me riled up, right at this moment. You have no idea what you stirred up in my head with your post about hating either of my parents.
So just get the eff off.

Might want to check out the Al Mahdi predictions of the Islamic beliefs.

Nah... They just picked up the notion from our rapture ready crowd.. Bad theology is so much more exciting and offers unending opportunity to manipulate the masses.

Charge the oil companies what ever you want. It won't hurt them. They will just pass that charge on to the consumers and get their money back.

Agreed. In fact, the vast majority of business, including all of the major businesses, hate war. It's bad for business. This who are claiming it's the "MIC" are living 60 years in the past.

LOLOL.. Yeah.. People talk a lot of smack.. particularly ignorant people.

Then you have to add in the scare tactics or science, (a little of both( that say fossil fuels will fun out in 40 yrs, or 50 yrs, or 75 yrs, etc.
If oil ever does run out, the country that has the most stock piled will pretty much control the world until an alternative comes along.

Sorry for you loss. Also sorry your anger is not letting you see what I mean in my posts. I've tried several times to connect with you, and often agreed with you, but you seem set on hating me. No, I won't "eff off", but I will stop talking to you unless you PM me to start.
