Homosexuality is becoming not only accepted, but even encouraged at times. I understand that many with same-sex preferences have been through hell. Many have been sexually abused. Many have been struggled with their feelings & many have been treated badly for their aparent or actual sexual preferences.
I believe it's important to love everyone, no matter what their preferences. Loving someone means to want the best for them, even if it means telling them truth they don't want to hear.

Society's well being depends on the basic unit of society: family, which is based on marriage between a man and a woman.
Legal marriage is primarily for the benefit of society, especially the future of society: CHILDREN.
Children are created by a man and a woman.
Studies and common sense, show that children also thrive best by being raised by the 2 opposite sexes that created them (nature is wise).
Gay marriage denies the right for a child to have both a mother and father, & basically states, "Mothers aren't really important - 2 dads are ok, or Fathers aren't really important - 2 moms are ok." When this false!

Another consideration is the health consequences of homosexual sex...Because statistically, homosexuals (both men and women) change partners more often and are less monogomous than heterosexuals, STDs and AIDS statistically are known to spread quickly among homosexuals, especially gay men...

We also know that anal sex is risky (for anal fissures, bacterial infection, colon rupture & anal cancer), even in 2 healthy males.

Why would you want to legally place children with couples who engage in harmful behavior, when children learn most by imitation?
Homosexuality is not only harmful medically, but usually it is the product of psychological problems (except for rare instances ie hermaphrodites). We are born with brains that are only 25% developed, so that our brains can adapt to environmental influences & better survive.

"1. No research has found provable biological or genetic differences between heterosexuals & homosexuals that weren't caused by their behavior.
2. In 2 large studies conducted... Homosexuals overwhelmingly believed their feelings and behavior were the result of social or environmental influences.
3. Older homosexuals often approach the young
4. Early homosexual experiences influence adult patters of behavior
5. Sexual conduct is influenced by cultural factors - esp. religious convictions
6. Many change their sexual preferences
7. There are many ex-homosexuals"
Environmental factors may influence sexual orientation

The APA changed the definition of homosexuality not because of scientific studies, but because of political harrassment from gay lobbyists.
The Born "Gay" Hoax |

Speaking of harassment, others' rights have been denied in order to cator to "gay rights"...
Children have the right to not be taught homosexuality in school. Yet, in places where gay marriage has been enacted, these rights have been infringed upon. Here are a few examples where those with homosexual preferences have pushed their assumed rights, which infringed on the rights of others...
*Freshmen were told not to tell their parents about a pro-gay seminar & were required to sign a confidentiality agreement (Derrfield, Illinois Mar. 2007).
*In March, 2007, a Massachusetts high school banned parents from attending a seminar for students on how they can know they are homosexual.
*In October, 2008, First graders (6 year-old students) were taken on a field trip to watch their lesbian teacher's wedding.
*In Oct 2008, a Hayward CA public elementary school celebrated "Coming Out Day."

Normalizing & even encouraging children to explore homosexuality obviously causes more to experiment with homosexuality.
"The Legal Liability Associated with Homosexuality Education in Schools... This report is part of an integrated strategy to inform and educate parents, students and school officials across the nation of its contents and of their respective rights and duties. It has documented the concern that the health of students in many schools across the country may have been compromised and their First Amendment rights may have been denied."
http://www.afamichigan.org/images/Legal ... 200504.pdf

Also, others' rights have been infringed upon in favor of supporting gay rights.
*In April 2008, an Albuquerque photographer was fined over $6,000 for refusing to be hired to photograph a lesbian couple's commitment ceremony.
*In May, 2008, a black administrator was fired from the U of Toledo, Ohio, for writing an editorial objecting to the comparison of black discrimination to same-sex marriage.
*An intolerant opponent of Proposition 8 even violently attacked & injured a Proposition supporter in Oct. 2008.
*On November 19, 2008, eHarmony, a Christian-based matching service was forced by New Jersey's Division on Civil Rights to provide website matching services for homosexuals.

Same sex couples already have "rights" under common law marriage and cohabitation agreements. Legally redefining marriage is simply trying to legally force society to accept a minority's sexual deviations.
Please strive for what's best for society's emotional & physical health - especially society's future: children, by supporting their right to be raised by a mother AND father.
Please defend marriage as defined to be between a man and a woman!

Ban single parent adoptions.
Remove children from single divorced parents.
Ban divorce when children are involved.
Remove children from unmarried single parents.
Mandatory "shot-gun" weddings.
Ban anti-harassment and bullying laws.
Re-institute anti-sodomy laws.
Remove all sex-ed from public schools.

And while were at it, let's segregate all those LGBT's so they can have absolutely no influence on our children or offend our delicate sensibilities.

After all....it's for the children.

Tumbleweed,
You love those strawman logical fallacies, don't you?

If it weren't for your mother and father, you wouldn't be here typing your creative strawman logical fallacies.

Why deny reality?
Is it because you want to be accepted by others who deny reality?
Is it because you want something besides reality so you think by denying reality it will make reality change?
Why?

If your argument stems from the fact that only a man and woman can produce offspring, you might want to start with denying marriages to sterile couples.

Obviously you didn't read the OP (I know it's long & for those who don't want to work intellectually, it just is too much).
My argument is that a child deserves to be raised by a mother & father, just as each child is created by such. It doesn't matter if the child is raised by an adoptive or biological mother and father. What matters is that the child is granted the right to the ideal balance of being raised by the 2 opposite sexes that naturally created the child.

Then, as tumbleweed said, we should deny single parent adoptions and remove children from divorced parents and single parents, as they are not being raised by both man and woman.

Don't forget to ban divorce completely. After all, if we're going to defend marriage as something so sacred that it can only occur between a man and a woman, we need to protect it from those Hollywood types who engage in marriage stunts or 2-day marriages.

We should use this thread as an excuse to hang Newt Gingrich by his heels for making a mockery of marriage. Same these fellow Americans:

Ronald Reagan - divorced the mother of two of his children. Married Nancy Davis who bore him a daughter only 7 months after the marriage.
Bob Dole - divorced the mother of his child, who had nursed him through the long recovery from his war wounds.
Newt Gingrich - divorced his wife who was dying of cancer.
Dick Armey - Former House Majority Leader - divorced
Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas - divorced
Gov. John Engler of Michigan - divorced
Former Gov. Pete Wilson of California - divorced
George Will - divorced
Sen. Lauch Faircloth - divorced
Rush Limbaugh - Rush and his current wife Marta have six marriages and four divorces between them.
Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia - Barr has been married three times. Barr had the audacity to author and push the "Defense of Marriage Act."
The current joke making the rounds on Capitol Hill is "Bob Barr, WHICH marriage are you defending?"
Sen. Alfonse D'Amato of New York - divorced
Sen. John Warner of Virginia - divorced (once married to Liz Taylor)
Gov. George Allen of Virginia - divorced
Henry Kissinger - divorced
Rep. Helen Chenoweth of Idaho - divorced
Sen. John McCain of Arizona - divorced
Rep. John Kasich of Ohio - divorced
Rep. Susan Molinari of New York (2000 Republican National Convention Keynote Speaker) - divorced

It is partisan politics that is making this an issue. We live in the "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" with a Constitution that guarantees equal protection under the law. Some people are seeking to subvert those rights. I find the entire conversation to be about politics.

That's cute.

For your information, my Mother died when I was two of ALS. I was raised by a single man.
Contrary to your "research", non-traditional families can raise children also. Often times, as or more successfully than traditional families.
I also have a daughter, by sperm donation, being raised by a loving lesbian couple. She is now five years old and very well adjusted. My only concern for her is the reaction of bigots and hypocrites.

That's reality.

Here's some "reality" for you to chew on.

Sexual orientation, homosexuality and bisexuality

Prejudice and discrimination have social and personal impact. On the social level, prejudice and discrimination against lesbian, gay, and bisexual people are reflected in the everyday stereotypes of members of these groups. These stereotypes persist even though they are not supported by evidence, and they are often used to excuse unequal treatment of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people. For example, limitations on job opportunities, parenting, and relationship recognition are often justified by stereotypic assumptions about lesbian, gay, and bisexual people.
On an individual level, such prejudice and discrimination may also have negative consequences, especially if lesbian, gay, and bisexual people attempt to conceal or deny their sexual orientation. Although many lesbians and gay men learn to cope with the social stigma against homosexuality, this pattern of prejudice can have serious negative effects on health and well-being. Individuals and groups may have the impact of stigma reduced or worsened by other characteristics, such as race, ethnicity, religion, or disability. Some lesbian, gay, and bisexual people may face less of a stigma. For others, race, sex, religion, disability, or other characteristics may exacerbate the negative impact of prejudice and discrimination.
The widespread prejudice, discrimination, and violence to which lesbians and gay men are often subjected are significant mental health concerns. Sexual prejudice, sexual orientation discrimination, and antigay violence are major sources of stress for lesbian, gay, and bisexual people. Although social support is crucial in coping with stress, antigay attitudes and discrimination may make it difficult for lesbian, gay, and bisexual people to find such support.

Part of it is my opinion, part of it is fact, unless medical facts gathered by the United States Center for Disease Control is also considered "opinion."
True it does say STD's are on the rise in Gay and bi-sexual men. Do you know if they have done similar studies on goats? just curious.

You seem unusually obsessed with goats. Is this another sexual deviation emerging? :D

It is true that heterosexuals also contract & spread AIDS & STD's but statistically, those with homosexual preferences are disproportionately represented, according to the United States Center for Disease Control.
