YouTube - COLIN POWELL- CRISIS IN AMERICA: JANUARY 21-22

Was this simply a slip of the tongue by Colin Powell, or is there something that these people know about that we do not? I do not understand why the interviewer did not follow up on that remark and ask Mr. Powell how he gave a date and then followed by saying that we don't even know about it yet. If we do not know about it, how is it that a date is given? This all seems rather strange coming off the heels of the awkward comment made by Joe Biden. What does everyone think of all of this talk of a generated crisis?

I don't think anyone's bearings are too great at the moment UnityNow101. There's so much already happening and colossal forces in politics, economics, society and the environment are destabilising & changing.

Those comments by Powell and Biden are very generalised, Biden's less so. I don't think they hint at anything more extreme than the already known & unfolding crises. What really should be communicated better by US mainstream news is that business as usual is effectively over. The more people come to grasp that the less unrest they'll be.

Re: the second post, given all the uncertainty the US prepping for potential martial law doesn't surprise me but hopefully nothing like that would actually happen. The UK is prepping for potential collapse/anarchy also but prep is just prep. I very much doubt something like martial law would ever be implemented unless there were absolutely dire circumstances. Problems at home are unlikely to compare to what will be occurring in other areas of the world. Take a glance at Pakistan for instance.

He might have referred to the Permanent Oil Crisis Conference, which will be held on exactly these days. Perhaps Powell already knows some of the data which will be discussed/published there, and it isn't good.

That could be it.

  • Obama takes office on the 20th.
  • The conference confirms fears about ever diminishing oil production due to dwindling supplies on the 21st/22nd. It's covered by the mainstream media in a big way.
  • The world as a whole starts to wake up to the massive implications for the economy in the long-term during the weekend.
  • Obama calls for emergency measures to be taken to deal with the burgeoning energy crisis on the 25th.
  • A lot of denial, anger or confusion arise with some claiming its a Socialist conspiracy or whatnot by Obama and others on the 26th.

Dealing with the energy crisis will be very bitter medicine for some. Currently the only people I know personally who seem to have some grasp of the significance of crossing peak oil production tend to think outside the box. How will ordinary people react?

From Jim Kuntsler's blog:-

I hope you're enjoying the temporarily cheap prices at the gas pumps, because this is purely a function of the compressive deleveraging that is going on right now, as contracts and positions held in energy markets are being dumped by everybody and his uncle to raise cash to meet margin calls. My guess is that oil and its byproducts will become much more difficult to get in the months ahead -- not just more expensive, but literally not available. The current falling price of oil has little to do with the real supply and demand fundamentals. It's simply a function of the markets being in near-total disarray. We're running on current inventory, and running it down. In the background, all kinds of peculiar and terrible things are happening. The entire apparatus of allocation and distribution is being thrown out of whack. The smaller tanker operations are going bankrupt. The "less-developed" nations are heading back to the 17th-century level of daily life without electricity. The oil exploration and development projects that were planned for hard-to-get oil netting $100-a-barrel minimum -- in places like the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Siberia, and Central Asia -- are being shelved, which means the world has less of a chance to offset coming depletions in old fields.

The bottom line of all this is that we in the US could find ourselves in a situation of shortages, hoarding, and rationing. This would pretty much kill off whatever remains of the previous shuck-and-jive economy -- hamburger sales, theme park visits, Nascar weekends -- while it obviates the failures of our suburban living arrangements (and drives the value of housing there closer to zero).

The new president will have to be Franklin Roosevelt on steroids, with some Mahatma Gandhi and Florence Nightingale thrown in.

It could be as simple as the dollar crashing or 'they' freezing the ATM machines to stop working. At first people will be calm but then all hell will break loose which is the reason for the martial law.

As simple as the dollar crashing? LoL, that may be a bit of an understatement, don't you think? I couldn't even imagine how the American people would react to such a situation...
