Canadian health care in trouble?

I think its good that we have Rick to show us the folly of changing the American model of health care.

Thanks to Obama we are going to have death panels, woemn adn young girls getting abortions daily, before attending parties and functions...often.

Because of Obama I may be forced to pay for my own death out of my wages.

Its a terrible world, America has really gone down the tubes.

So, what is the point of all this? That we should do away with Medicare? I think all those Tea Party protesters would mob your house, since they do not seem to quite understand that Medicare is socialist.

What is stupid is the notion that any kind of quality health care would be affordable to the masses from cradle to grave.

During the health care debates, Canada was used as a model for progressive health care reform.

What is stupid is assuming that this article means that quality healthcare can't be affordable to the masses from cradle to grave.

During the health care debates, Canada was used as a model for progressive health care reform.

That's because it is a great model. It has its problems like any system, but all in all it works really well. We might decide that our population is older or has more of certain problems, and so use a similar system with a few changes to account for those things, but the general idea is very viable.

Canada would fare better with a good European-like health care system.

I met a couple of Canadians this summer & part of my family is Canadian - they are always surprised to see how severe the Canadian system is contrary to the (more social) European one.

I hardly think Canada is the pinnacle of achievement for universal health care systems, but the UK has a quality health care system that does provide afforable health care from cradle to grave. After the Labour party came to power in 1997, the National Health Service (NHS) became a good model for health care systems.

shhhhhh if you throw a brick you may hit a stupid person

OK Cheese man, that is the second time you have said the same thing. Do you have anything to add to the discussion?

I for one would like for you to explain why anyone who holds a different opinion other than yourself is automatically stupid.

If this where the case, there would never be a need for debate or for that matter any representation in Washington. We could just do the "smart thing" all the time.

Everything could just be automatic.

It's a great big world out there where people hold different opinions. Surrounding yourself with like minded people all the time is not going to broaden your horizons.

Intolerance and elitism does not look very good on you IMHO.

I totally disagree. After Labour got into power they helped ruin the NHS.

Of course the "death panels" can't possibly exist. I know this because I'm an avid NPR
listener. They said there will only be "end of life panels". The difference is huge!

We already have death panels. They are otherwise known as insurance policy rescission.

I never did understand the reasoning. We are fine with thousands of people suffering from lack of health insurance coverage or denial of a claim, but the second a government would deny a claim, for any reason, we suddenly become Nazi Germany.

.

Whats the point rick...you like posting biased one sided moany woany rants
I'm sure in a year from now, you'll still be posting essentially the same thing

liberals and socialism = smelly welly doodie

Its transparent and boring.

Now if you actually produced some balance and produced threads that showed your side of the political spectrum can actually get things wrong (perish the thought) instead of JUST starting threads on "naughty waughty, need their botty spanked, Liberals" then I'd eat my words.

Until then I don't see anythign really of merit to engange in a deep discussion beyond the odd mere quip that certain people get high praise for....

If you don't like it...and my views, I am sure as mod you can get me banned again
afterall I am one of those smelly liberals that you have promised to fight against...with your dying breath:)
