Any particular genre you favor?
Not sure you'd like it but excession by Iain M Banks is one of my favourites books.
Any of the diskworld books by Terry Pratchett. Great humour.
I've read a lot about Jack the Ripper and could give you some recs there, if you want
You might like All The Light We Cannot See. Historical fiction about two people surviving WW2, a young German boy and a blind French girl under occupation.I like certain memoirs such as people who go through hard experiences. I like movie wise genres like sci-fi, drama, comedy,
crime horror( as in the Saw series and Silence of the Lambs)
The Complete History of Jack the Ripper: Amazon.co.uk: Philip Sugden: 9781841193977: Books (the best)What have you read about him?
Bleak House is unbeatable, in my opinion. Apart from biting social commentary and a cast of apparently extraordinary but actually quite real characters, there is an exciting detective story and some poignant and unexpected twists. And Dickens dials down the Victorian schmalz to some degree, which is what some people (including me) can find off-putting.Anything by Charles Dickens.
sci-fi
Iain Banks. What good taste you have! Iain was a friend of mine, and my favourite of his is The Crow Road.
sci-fi,
If we are doing Orwell I recommend "Coming Up for Air". Not political but a nicely observed story about personal life, the passage of time and memory.1984, Animal Farm.
I read Debbie Reynold's 2013 memoir. It was good, very interesting. She's a famous film star, and so is her daughter Carrie Fischer. This memoir talks about her money, marriages, a bit about Carry Fischer's upbringing..Debbie Reynold's extreme unction to create a museum from old hollywood sets. You'd like it. I should mention it is the only memoir I have ever read, but it is good in my opinion. What are some good books you have read and would recommend?
Horror and detective (the later genre founded by him): Edgar Allan PoeWhat are some good books you have read and would recommend?
