RACISM AND POLICE BRUTALITY CONTINUES

"Teens at the pool party told BuzzFeed News the police were called after a fight broke out between adults and youths at the pool after the adults made racist comments telling the black children to leave the area and return to "Section 8 [public] housing."

Texas Police Officer On Administrative Leave After Pulling Weapon On Teens During Pool Party - BuzzFeed News

"...at least 385 people got shot and killed by police nationwide during the first five months of this year, more than two a day, according to a Washington Post analysis. That is more than twice the rate of fatal police shootings tallied by the federal government over the past decade, a count that officials concede is incomplete..."

Fatal police shootings in 2015 approaching 400 nationwide - The Washington Post

Life under a regime which tries to impose "human rights" and "democracy" all over the world by invasions. Indeed hypocricy.

And I always wondered why American nations have not stopped the warmongering-invasionist foreign policy of the USA regime. It seems they are busy with this stupid inside conflicts and Police brutality. And American regime (leaders of all parties, arm dealers, bankers) wins inside and outside of the country. And the folks lose by fighting one another.

I understand why you blame it on a regime, however in this case the problem is in a place in Texas and is not everywhere in the country. The policeman who did it is in trouble. Invasions...in Iraq that did happen, and one of our presidents lied to the republic, but generally no one here favors spreading human rights by invasion. He abused the trust of the voters, but fortunately he could only do limited harm because of his term limit. Its hard sometimes to accept responsibility for the what government does, but we are responsible for it. Its definitely something the American people have to fix, and that can only be done by voting and through term limits.

I've heard different stories. The one least mentioned by media is that a crowd of teenagers showed up without pool passes and started harrassing the patrons who were already there, which was prompted the exchange of angry words and it escalated from there. Did the cops respond inappropiately? Probably, but it appears that the media is not covering the whole picture objectively, ignoring the fact that the teenagers were trespassing and harassing people, and failed to comply and cooperate with police. It doesn't appear to be the simple black and white situation (no pun intended) that the media presents it as.

Also, belonging to a "disadvantaged" demographic doesn't mean that you're entitled to be allowed to misbehave with impunity, nor does belonging to a "privilaged" demographic mean that you're obligated to be a passive door-mat.

Man, parenthood has really mellowed you.

You can reference a militarized police force as bad here in 'Murica, but you can't mention institutionalized racism and how that might manifest in a militarized police force. :)

{there's only one American nation that I'm aware of} The US continues it's "warmongering-invasionist foreign policy" because we feel we're on a mission (apparently from the god of democracy) to spread democracy by hook or by crook to the unwashed masses. After all, we possess exceptionalism and all that jazz.

Despite the above, one of the lovely things 'bout living here is I can say all that about my country and not fear a knock on the door or upside the head.

Can't mention it?
We continually talk about it..
Nah, we really don't. Someone expresses concern about what appears to be an inordinately large number of brown people who die after interacting cops, and 65 bazillion people counter with "what about white guys?" We are not a society that can stomache the possibility that institutionalized racism might be a thing, IMO because we think it will mean we're racist ourselves.

Nonetheless, a great many people here freely talk about institutionalized racism.
But many a problem facing the fact that white, Hispanic, Amerindian, & Asian folk also suffer from abuse by cops.
We see it regularly here on RF when SJWs ridicule concern for anyone other than black folk.
They see all thru the lens of victimization politics, ie, only disadvantaged groups deserve our concern.
Why is this problematic?
If we addressed the nascent police state, the culture of police violence, the immunity of cops to be held accountable, & the militarization of police, then that would mitigate abuse of all citizens, including black folk. But listening to sources (government created) like NPR, only black folk are ever killed by cops. Racism is a problem....but it's not the only or biggest problem.

The subject of institutionalized racism isn't one that applies only to blacks.

Damn! My whole point is therefore summarily stupid because of that misspelling. {grumble grumble grouse grouse}
Welcome to the club.
But I find comfort in having no one respect me.
With low expectations comes the ease of meeting them.
