It's the wallabies, Dave. You know it and I know it.

Sneaky, border-hopping little turds.

Just saying what everybody was thinking.
( stay safe, Man)
I believe it is the conspiracy of the cute cuddly koala bears planing to take over Australia.

I can't help but to say......it will run it's course

it's all chemistry
and it will invade all territories
and all that live there

I have posted often.....your chemistry is your fortress

this curve that everyone points to is not the curve to note
the curve that counts is the timely effort to strengthen yourself
cut out your bad habits

you will be infected

you must assimilate the intruder to survive the intrusion

I understand your view. But I have a pregnant wife. Even if life with the virus is a permanent thing, and eventually she'll get it, there are clear advantages to 'eventually' being held off until after the birth.

ah.....a coincidental timing issue in play

People die from COVID-19 because their lungs fill up with fluids that prevent the lung lining from passing oxygen to the blood stream.

This can be limited by putting the bed in a 20-degree slant that keeps the head lower than the rest of the body. This will allow gravity to force the fluids out of the lungs. The patient will cough and spit these fluids out and not left in the lungs to accumulate.

& the patient should also be kept lying down with back up.

Just a suggestion

You "Bruces" {apologies for the Monty Python reference because I've been binging their show but stated in love) have tackled this far more forcefully than where I live. Australia has as many cases nationwide as the county where I work and the neighboring county. That would be Cobb County and Fulton County in Georgia. I read about New South Wales closing their borders because of a rise in dozens of cases while at the same time where I live we are witnessing thousands of cases reaching a new peak day after day.

It's gotten to the point where I am no longer comfortable to go to work. I've worked throughout this pandemic in retail but in Georgia we are witnessing incredible spikes and I wish our government would do something. But I'm curious is it true in New South Wales did the state actually close the border to Victoria? Over a dozen of new cases?

Such a thing is practically impossible here.

edit: Can you get some of your politicians over here to tell Governor Kemp to get his **** together?

Dang it Victorians and Melbourne!!! Everyone needs to be in maximum lockdown. No one is allowed to leave their rooms, not even to go to the toilet!:mad:

I kid of course. People are being selfish and petulant. We eased restrictions and opened the borders too early in celebration and suffering for it imo
I have to agree with @Deeje yet again (what is happening to us? We are rarely in “debate” anymore??):p

I fear I like birthday celebrations too much ;)

Those celebrations are totally overrated IMO. :p
Giving up those things was not difficult for me because I hated them anyway. Fake ‘happy birthdays’ with greedy children turning into brats for their “special” day.....I traded that for “unbirthday parties” where the get-together was not dictated by a date on a calendar, and the host child gave presents to all their friends who came to enjoy the occasion for no special reason.....and the parents who attended all brought some goodies to share. No great expense.....no brats.....and everyone having a great time.

I dunno about you, but that seems like a much better way to go......?...don’t you think? :)

Covid 19 has put the breaks on a lot of things we used to take for granted, but at least we still have Zoom to stay in touch. ;)

How are you coping?

Well I suppose that sounds like a good alternative.

Birthdays for me are a reminder of my dad really. I don’t actually like big celebrations as much as I like spending family time together. And alright getting money/presents helps too lol
Besides in our culture milestones in terms of life (various birthday dates, marriage, engagement etc) are like gigantic festivals. So I don’t think I could give those up without breaking my poor ma’s heart lol

Yes I’m pretty introverted and even I was crying for more social events to be open. Like wow!!

Yeah I’m going alright. How are you handling this?

Nothing wrong with milestones I guess as long as they are not rooted in pagan stuff, which most of them are, so for us, we would rather avoid them for that reason.....

Have you ever wonder where the birthday wishes and cake came from? Birthdays were used by astrologers to cast horoscopes and the candles on the b/day cake were supposed to scare away evil spirits. No wonder the ancient Jews never celebrated birthdays......which means that Jesus never celebrated his birthday and neither did anyone else.....hence why we don't do Christmas. He wasn't born anywhere near December 25th. And Easter is not Christian either.....its customs all originated in pagan worship.

We might not do all the 'pagan' holidays but that doesn't mean we don't have parties and get-togethers occasionally. We just don't do what everyone else does, because everyone else does them....and we can have fun without getting drunk. :D

For some JW's, their wedding anniversary is their special family day. Who needs the madness of the Christmas shopping? And it makes no sense at all to have the whole country on holiday at the same time.....the road toll is enough to make any thinking person wonder if its worth it...especially since Oz is a pretty secular country. And the cost of everything goes through the roof.

I am a housebound carer for my 96 year old Mum, so not much has changed for us. I just use a lot of hand sanitizer and avoid shopping at busy times. Its school holidays now, so here on the south coast its pretty crowded. So many people not observing the Covid restrictions as if somehow the virus will give them special exemption.....

Its that "can't happen to me" Aussie attitude that leads them to flout the rules. This virus is not one to be messed with......R-E-S-P-E-C-T is what it demands.....or it will make us all pay.

Life may never be the same again.....as the waves keep hitting us.....

Ahh but you see I am the dreaded Pagan.;) *dramatic music cue*
Although our cakes didn’t traditionally come with candles. Which is odd, now that I think on it. Fire is so very central to everything we do. We use them now though, but it’s more of a “Westernisation” thing.

Well that’s nice.
. If there’s one thing I can’t argue with it’s the gross over commercialisation of Christmas and how it flies in the face of Christ’s humility.
That said, I do look forward to the actual day. Just me, the fam and a Lovu. Just beautiful. *chef’s kiss*

Yeah, people just don’t seem to care. But it’s good that you’re practicing safety and good hygiene.
Experts have already warned the worst is yet to come. And drongos seem to be still out in force :(

I believe that they were tapers originally. There is a book that explains some of the customs attached to today's birthday customs.. Its called "The Lore of Birthdays" by Ralph and Adelin Linton.
So much is taken for granted in birthday celebrations today, but they retain the flavor of ancient religious rites.....the book says.....“The custom of lighted candles on the cakes started with the Greeks,”. . . .“Philochorus [an ancient Greek historian] records that on the sixth day of each month, the birthday of Artemis, [the fertility] goddess of the moon and the hunt, honey cakes round as the moon and lit with tapers were placed on the temple altars of this goddess.
So, for us, anything that has to do with pagan worship is something to be avoided.
As you may know, the Bible forbids anything to do with spiritism. (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)

Fun without getting drunk??????

Yes, it is a nice family time for those who have a nice family...but ask the police how much they enjoy Christmas? Its a time when domestic violence goes off the scale. So many fractured families bickering about who is going to eat the feast and where? Poor kids get caught in the middle of it.

I would rather do things the way we do.....its our family day, just for us, not shared with the mob of 'sheeples' getting themselves into debt on top of what they still owe from last year.

I love standing in the check out at the supermarket and have people ask me if I'm finished my Christmas shopping? When I tell them I don't celebrate Christmas, a long look of envy comes on their faces.....they are over it, but they can't stop....its an expectation that everyone must comply. As soon as one commercial event is over, the shelves are stocked for the next fleecing....it actually feels good to say...."no sorry, not doing that anymore"....

Yep, it only takes one idiot to infect a couple of people who then go on to infect a few more and before the two week incubation period is up....a few thousands may then be spreading it to others....how do they not get it?

It makes me smile when I see them with their thermometers, testing for a fever in people coming into a venue. 80% of infected people have mild or no symptoms......this is a joke. o_O but its not funny. No one can really tell how the virus may attack someone.

Ahh those whacky ancient Greeks man. You know for some reason I assumed it would be from the Ancient Romans, since Catholics often use candles in their worship practices. Eh.
I mean you do you.

I know...right?

Sorry, still can’t fathom the idea ;):p

Yeah well crime waits for no man, I guess. I would hope they get good dosh for working the public holiday. I mean they are part of the government.

I would rather do things the way we do.....its our family day, just for us, not shared with the mob of 'sheeples' getting themselves into debt on top of what they still owe from last year.
Capitalism is materialism.
Our day is always about family first and foremost. The fam are dreaded “heretic” Christians. So sometimes I find myself in Church. It’s pretty and I have yet to catch fire. Who knows how long my luck will last though, eh?

I don’t blame you. I mostly just give out cash and cards lol
But Christmas has nothing on Diwali. At least Christmas is only one day, Diwali is like a week solid. Though the food coma is definitely worth it.
I know you are to avoid Pagan practices, but I mean does that include food? Because if you get into the good graces of an Aunty, you could be swimming in sweet and savoury treats ;)

Agreed. Woeful and shameful behaviour from certain folks. No regard for their fellow man, just plain selfishness.

It makes me smile when I see them with their thermometers, testing for a fever in people coming into a venue. 80% of infected people have mild or no symptoms......this is a joke. o_O but its not funny. No one can really tell how the virus may attack someone.
Exactly. We all need to take precautions and ensure we are looking after ourselves and our communities.
