Are there or can there be other beings?

Of course there are other beings. The Earth is nothing compared to the universe. An example that I like to use is the Earth is a fly or even a bacteria, whereas the universe is the Milky Way. The universe is just so big, that there has to be other beings. Unfotunately, most likely humans will meet them within centuries, while I will not be alive.

There seems like a pretty strong concensus that there could be life on other planets; given that this is true, what implications does this have for Christianity? Did Jesus ONLY save humans and "forget" about other species? Or are humans somehow special in their biological makeup that makes them special compared to other intelligent being out there? Any thoughts on the possible ramifications of the discovery of intelligent exterrestial life on Christian theology?
