Are there logical, ethical reasons for Senators to not impeach?

In an ideal world, yes. But impeachment is not a criminal process. It is a political one.

i'd say yes and no to that. impeachments are held after all if there is a suspicion of "high crimes and/or misdemeanors" correct?

Well, yes, but and the but is that you could remove a president for e.g. not eating meat on Wednesday and that would meet the process requirements of the Constitution. In other words, in practice what the Senate could remove a president for is wholly political and only indirectly connected to what is criminal, because there is no strong legal definition that binds the Senate to exactly what "high crimes and/or misdemeanors" are.
