About the GND....Even Pelosi? The most corporate establishment democrat?
Of course Pelosi opposes it.
I think it is a vague aspiration policy resolution. As such it is nowhere near urgent enough. What is needed is specific legislation. And that is starting to come.About the GND....
- Do you agree with its urgency & proposals?
- Do you think it's the best way to address GW?
Let's hope that it's both useful & viable.I think it is a vague aspiration policy resolution. As such it is nowhere near urgent enough. What is needed is specific legislation. And that is starting to come.
That is a good start.Let's hope that it's both useful & viable.
But I'll tell you this....they've yet to contact me for my sage advice.
Not asking my advice is a bad start. That is a good start.
I don't have a strong argument for GW's schedule.
If we're to eliminate airplanes & cars, why stop there?
Let's think of some other ambitious projects which will work simply
because of unbridled enthusiasm & urgency....
- Anti-gravity technology.
- Faster than light travel.
- A strawberry flavored pill to cure all disease.
Even if this were true it does not excuse deliberate use of a straw man fallacy and misrepresentation. To summarize....
- It has no specific proposals to gain support.
- It's widely scorned.
Of course it doesn't. But they'll do it anyway, and then whine about the state of political discourse when called on it.Even if this were true it does not excuse deliberate use of a straw man fallacy and misrepresentation.
You keep using that term. This is an example of a strawman. The proposal calls for net-zero, not for elimination.
I'm not doing videos to get info. From about five years ago, here's an example of how reasonable, thoughtful input from scientists goes in congress. An exchange between Obama's presidential science advisor John Holden, and members of the HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE, SPACE, and TECHNOLOGY!!!
Start watching at just after 3 minutes..
What do you think is a straw man?Even if this were true it does not excuse deliberate use of a straw man fallacy and misrepresentation.
BSM1 can be coaxed into conversation.
Pretend you like & respect him.
(I do that.)
What do you think is a straw man?
That we must eliminate cars & planes to avoid total planetary destruction?
That we must eliminate cars & planes to avoid total planetary destruction?
Consider this as what I consider a pretty good understanding of the NGD....The above is what you said!! I just friggin' quoted you. But the GND DOES NOT CALL for the elimination of cars and planes. So, for you to claim that it does is a strawman argument.
What part of this is unclear to you?
Consider this as what I consider a pretty good understanding of the NGD....
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Releases Green New Deal Outline
Perhaps you're reading "elimination" as total.
I wouldn't expect that.
Having read both, I concur with the criticism.Well your NPR article got it wrong. Why don't you read the actual resolution? It's probably shorter than the article.
