Yesterday we all lost a very special artist/sculptor that almost no one has ever heard of. He was one of a handful of extraordinary contemporary object-makers left in the world who had been able and willing to devote himself full time to art-making, and had done so all his adult life. He was a true "artist's artist", and those are becoming exceedingly rare in our culture.
His name was Myron Helfgott. And if you have a few minutes, you might want to explore some images of his amazing body of work.
If you have some time, and are curious, you can peruse a retrospective of his work from a few years ago. The site is a little tricky to navigate, but if you open the various "gallery" links on the opening page you can see rooms full of the various kinds of objects he's made over the years. ARCHIVE LINK
