A Red White and Blue Air Force One. It's really not that bad of an idea.

I was thinking that maybe they could go for a whole new design concept. For example, what if Trump flew into Moscow on his next summit in something like this?

Circle around the city a few times before landing, with "Ride of the Valkyries" playing on a loudspeaker.

That would be cool.

Awesome, but I'd prefer our next diplomatic mission to Moscow looked like this:

It would make a very easy way to pick out his plane even in a busy sky. That is if he goes ahead with the scheme.

I live 30 mins outside a major international airport. I can track their contrail and sound to find the craft creating it. Paint won't do anything.

Are you also tracking Chemtrails?

30 mins roughly equals 30 miles at 60MPH. An airline traveling 500 knots and 2000 fpm climb rates, well, you do the math .

No as I am talking about tracking just with eye sight and the human ear.
Awesome. Do you know anything about ManPads and aircraft defense systems? Go ahead and Google them so you can call yourself an expert.

While you're at it, please explain to me why the terrorists haven't shot down a US airliner using them over the past two decades. You do agree they want to do so, don't you?

A legitimate caveat.

Yes and not the redecorating kind.

Trump is just babbling along the patriot/nationalism line (yes it blurs in the middle). It is his ego and the projection of that ego that a paint job is something needed for inspiration. I am pretty sure the wing escorting fills this need.

Alternatively "This one does not have bombs" on the underbelly would do a hell of a lot more than Trump's idea.

Doesn't Air Force One carry all kinds of defensive systems just in case? It also has to be the command plane during a national emergency, so it's got all kinds of equipment and is more heavily armored than the typical airliner. Couldn't they also send escort planes and possibly scan/search the area around the flight path? I can't imagine them leaving Air Force One alone and vulnerable like that, even if it was painted in funny colors.

As for standard airliners, I've wondered the same question myself. I've looked up and saw airliners after taking off from the airport. I don't know what terrorists actually would do, but as for what they could do, anything is possible. Could they take out an airliner with a Stinger missile? I'm not sure. But how much do Stinger missiles cost? The more budget-minded terrorists might seek out cheaper options.

Obviously it's not public knowledge exactly what capabilities it has....unless Trump Tweets it or tells the Russians. There's detection systems and defensive systems.

All you need to know about Air Force One
While the details of the plane's defence capabilities are kept top secret, the plane has the ability to function as a de facto bunker in the event of a nuclear attack.

It's also reported to be capable of repelling airborne missiles and has a special electronic defence system that can jam enemy radars.

Electronics on board are designed to protect against an electromagnetic pulse and the aircraft is equipped with advanced secure communications equipment.

A stinger could do it, but most likely not. One was shot at an A300 in Iraq. If they'd lost the outer half of the wing, it would have been game over.

The Alt-Right, heck and even Neo-Con Republicans, have proved to be spendthrifts like the Democrats.

Yep.....at the end of the day, it never matters which of them are in power. small details may change back and forth, but the major issues are always kicked down the road.

Waste of time and money.. Now if AF1 required a new paint job I could be convinced.
This is the design for the new Air Force 1 fleet being ordered, not a repaint of the existing aircraft. Ironically, Trump is unlikely to every fly in the new planes as they’re not due to be delivered until 2024.

Hitting a commercial airliner at cruising altitude with standard man portable AAA rockets isn't really a concern. Hitting them shortly after take off or before landing is another story, however.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
A nice bright Gaudy one makes a far better target. Could be far better for an optical guidance system.
That's actually a fair point. Camouflage would be a worthy consideration.

Still, bright colors in nature usually indicates if you mess with it, you're likely to get stung.
