1560 Geneva Bible

This isn't saying the Geneva Bible's best, it's saying it's preferred by readers.
Shouldn't 'best' hinge more on accuracy of translation and inclusion of relevant texts -- or is the Bible's prime function pure propaganda?

A technical article in Nature might have a hundred times the information of an article on the same thing in The Sun or National Enquirer. Which one is 'better'?

"Preferred because of it's sheer power of excellence", which means it is great in every way...it is excellent. And it came over here on the Mayflower which is kind of nifty.

Accuracy of translation I'd say.
So many denominations of Christianity pick and choose
verses to hang church dogma on.
Some fundamentalist groups pass around a basket of
poisonous snakes to demonstrate faith.
Some march with signs saying "God hates ****".
J.W's won't serve in military and I dare say few if any
become police officers.
During WWII I had an uncle that went to prison rather
than serve. Another opted to work in a military hospital
rather than serve.
My dad was in 3rd armored, wounded 5 X and tolerated his b.i.l. J.W.'s. Barely.

Why I don't belong to a denomination.

Me neither. I didn't know that about J.W.s. not serving in the military. Jesus didn't seem to have any problem with soldiers, He seemed to like soldiers. "To the soldiers, be happy with your pay" is what he said.

But if you look at His sermons on the mount and on the plain, he seems more supportive of the meek and the peacemakers than the military. He advocates turning the other cheek, loving your enemies, returning good for evil, &c, to say nothing for His socialist bent.

But he's also practical to the needs of a world of sinners, Who need an authority with the power of the sword to keep the peace. He liked them well enough to pattern his disciples after them.

Grace and Perseverance
…Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him. Likewise, a contender does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the rules.…

Cornelius the first Gentile baptized was a soldier, but also gave to the poor and did good works. Paul made tents for the military.

Acts 10:7 When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.

Just want to point out that most Christian theologians will use the NASB, as it is widely regarded as the top of the formal equivalence translations.

I think you'll find it was John the Baptist that (reportedly) said that...Jesus did heal the servant of an army officer though (reportedly)

I'm not imposing at all. I understand what happens when liars read the Bible.
I don't want to talk to you anymore.
It is your right to comment on anything I post but do not expect a response. The only way that you will get another response from me is if you continue to be abusive. Then you will be contacted by those with the authority to put a stop to your crap

My Post...

I just read some of the notes in the margins of Luke 17:20-21.
I would be careful of the notes.
Make up your own mind what the scripture is saying.
Read it as if it is speaking directly to you and you won't need notes.

Your response..
That's what all liars do when they read the Bible. That's why there are millions of false prophets on earth today.
I am not a liar.

I didn't accuse you of being a liar.

You made this statement;
"Make up your own mind what the scripture is saying.
Read it as if it is speaking directly to you and you won't need notes."

I made this statement;
"That's what all liars do when they read the Bible. That's why there are millions of false prophets on earth today."

Your statement is true for all liars and so is mine. Since you and I both made statements that are true for liars, then why are you getting angry with me?
Now your just playing games.
