A person of more melanin is racist against... himself?

Not a racist bone in my body.
You're a conservative.
You noticed that a black guy said something
that runs counter to the liberal view.
This makes you racist.

Don't blame me.
I don't make the rules.
(I'm a racist too, BTW.)

Only if the fact that he is black makes a difference to you.

Does it?
I don't know about the "Only" you used.
But the fact that a black teacher describes
the course as he did is significant.

Are you one of those people who goes around
saying that he doesn't see race at all?
Not me....I notice race.
Wouldn't be woke otherwise.

No I am not one of those people. I recognize that people in this world have different experiences based on race. But nor am I a perfect person, sometimes I forget this, and often fail to understand it sufficiently.

The point is that if I were to introduce someone who is a county commissioner to share his opinion, I would introduce them as a county commissioner. Or I might say, here is a guy who I agree with, or here is a guy who has some interesting things to say. I would not introduce someone by their melanin count.

I believe that is racist. I am not even calling @Kenny racist. I don’t know him that well, and even if I did I don’t make personal comments like that. But I stand by the statement regarding that specific post, it was racist.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I'm a sociologist and I don't see a single thing wrong with that curriculum. Just sayin....what's the fuss?
I agree. It's a college course and not HS.

Provided it stays elective, I don't see why it ought to be an issue.

Of course it's racist.
But then, the word has evolved to require
a very low bar. Your calling his post racist
is itself racist. Of course, I'm not sayin that
you are racist. But I've no qualms about
saying that I'm racist....& sexist too....&
Islamophobic. Tip'o the iceberg of my biases.

We all suffer from implicit bias. And anyone who says they don’t is lying, lying to themselves or lying to everybody else. I think it good to acknowledge our failings, it is a necessary first step in trying to improve.

And I also think it is good to call out racism when we see it. And I will not hesitate to do that.

The issue was never about the history. The issue is when professors attempt to control how you must feel about the history.

Your mundane, pathetic ideology… is something I can live without. Guilt/ shame/ regret over the achievements of my ancestors (who I feel nothing but pride and gratitude for), committing to a more equitable/ diverse/ inclusive future, left-wing activism, blaming “systemic racism” for all your failings, reparations, excuses for criminals who land themselves in prison or worse over their own stupid choices… so on and so forth.

History is awesome. Tell me all about those who spilt blood, and of those whose blood got spilt. Tell me all about who got conquered, and of who did the conquering, so that I might learn from the successes and failures of both. Tell me about the wars and battles, and of the great cultures that rose and fell. Show me the art, reveal to me the religions and traditions, and give me glimpses into the Weltanschauung of those who came before, so that I might not only understand the “what” but also the “why”. Tell me how my country came to be, and of the countries before it. And tell me who had to suffer and die so that Americans could develop the greatest nation this world has ever seen… so that I might be grateful for their suffering and deaths.

This information is useful to me. Your ideology is not.

What's wrong with an equitable, inclusive future?
