Time to play Solve the Riddle.

Jesus said to the Sadducees, " God is not a God of the dead, but of the living." But Paul says that Christ is Lord both of the dead and living.

I think the answer is, dead means those whose body has died and are waiting the judgment day in Hades or Paradise. In Biblical point of view, they all seem to be still living, not just on earth.

If I misunderstood, my humble apologies.
I can't tell you the number of times I've had discussions with others who were telling me that "God is not the God of the dead" because those ones are alive. In other words, all the faithful of the past are not dead but alive and therefore God is their God.

But when I look at the context of the verse they quote to prove 'immortal souls' exist I find that the context refers NOT to 'immortal souls' at all but to the resurrection of the dead.

The context, instead of proving the existence of 'immortal souls' who went to heaven in a steady stream, proves instead that there is to be a resurrection of the dead.

So perhaps you'll understand where I'm coming from. We need to be on guard against those teachers who take Scripture out of context in order to satisfy their own beliefs.

I don’t believe we are physically resurrected. The true resurrection for me is the resurrection from the death of unbelief to the life of faith.

That type of resurrection is symbolized by baptism in water. If that meant we would never have to die, then a physical resurrection would not be necessary. But since we still must die, a resurrection from the dead is required to obtain the inheritance.

Jesus gave warning against false Christs and false prophets but Paul was accepted by the early church as a true teacher who agreed with what they were saying.
God gives warning in Deuteronomy I think, about people who come and say things in His name which do not come true.
Jesus himself said do not trust those who come after him and claim to speak in his name.
The church has long failed this simple instruction and warning.

Solve the riddle.

The answer is in the context of each individual situation. If you do some research you might be able to solve the riddle yourself.

Jesus said to the Sadducees, " God is not a God of the dead, but of the living." But Paul says that Christ is Lord both of the dead and living.

Solve the riddle.

The notion of the trinity, in my opinion, is mostly wrong.

God is God (and you shall have no other, as God said).

Jesus (called Lord) is the son of God.

Christ (called Lord) is the spirit that was in Jesus.

Everyone has a soul, and that soul was a part of God. So, in that sense, everyone is part God. We can do amazing things with our souls, and this is where psychic abilities come from.

Jesus said to the Sadducees, " God is not a God of the dead, but of the living." But Paul says that Christ is Lord both of the dead and living.

Solve the riddle.

If I May interpret...

" God is not a God of the dead,
There not be any God for a non-believer.
but of the living."
But in the (will) of ones living.

However, Paul is talking about a person with two (beings)..one that is ‘dead’..also the other is ‘alive’. This person is then worthy of being Christ, The Lord of God.
But this is a different topic, from a different angle(teachings of Paul)...one must not compare it to Gods word...Christ comes in by its ‘Order’ of God. Another story for another time.

God-bless.

Not good enough to be final.

If you have to be told what the dream is then your interpretation is questionable. -- Nebuchadnezzar
It is final. I've solved the riddle.

God is not the God of the dead because they are dead.
Jesus is Lord of the dead because there is to be a resurrection of the dead who believed in him.

Simple.

God told Moses that He was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had all died by this time. If there is no resurrection of the dead, as the Sadducees claim, then God could not be their God. But since there is to be a resurrection of the dead, God is their God. As God calls things that be not as though they were.

It's good we have God's inspired words. They expose lies like "Trinity" and "immortal soul".
