Begging vs Praying

What's the difference ?

Please explain giving examples.

Praying is: God, thank you for helping me. Please watch over my family as we are going through a terrible time.

Begging: PLEASE PLEASE god help me. Watch over my family 'cause I have nothing left to give. I implore you.

Prayer is more conversation and begging is more impeding help.

Some people beg in prayer especially when they are at their wits in. Others just sit down and talk with god.

Thank you in advance ?
And, what made you think God was NOT watching before you requested him to do so ?

Begging: PLEASE PLEASE god help me. Watch over my family 'cause I have nothing left to give. I implore you.
Nothing left to give ? What made you think human can give something to the creator of whole ?

It's for the prayer's benefit. If a child comes to ask or tell their parent they love them, I would hope the parent won't say "but I know already. You don't have to tell me again and again."

It's an example of the context definition of begging. Some people pray to say thank you. Some want guidance (knowing that god will 'already' give them this). Some pray for their life because their god is the only one that can take care of them.

Should they be mute?

Prayer involves labor.

Begging does not involve labor.

When we pray, we put effort to connect with our inner self - the divine part. It is the plea of the soul to find its own true nature, to connect with it and then, request the all-powerful for guidance.

Whereas begging has no labor on part of the seeker.

Begging prayer is asking God to change one's destiny in some way.

Praise prayer is loving and being grateful to God such as Psalm 23.

literally the two words are very much the same

I say....a different degree is applied

pray tell me what you think

I beg you to speak

I then suggest.....a difference in one's own condition or self confidence

Maybe you've not encountered beggars.

Nothing really much to add that hasn't already been covered. I will say prayer is much more interesting to watch than begging, though; the more ritualized, the better!

When I was a christian, any time I was faced with struggle, my first instinct was to reach out to god and ask for his help with those issues. Now, having separated myself from that mindset, my first instinct is to problem solve and tackle the issue head on.

"God helps those who help themselves" is often mistaken to be a passage in the bible; it should be in there, imo. :)

This is the Bahá’í view of prayer.

In the highest prayer, men pray only for the love of God, not because they fear Him or hell, or hope for bounty or heaven (Bahá’í Writings)

Begging's usually a straightforward request, sometimes with an explanation of hardship.
Prayer, importunate prayer, at least, often involves more fawning and obsequious grovelling than common begging.
Then there's the curious fact of the invisible benefactor.

A very old woman told me one time that even atheists believe in God. When times are really hard even they are praying to someone.

WE are all children of God. Deep down we know God can fix anything. Is it really so bad to put in a request? Of course not, on the other hand one must realize some challenges are meant to be overcome. One can not learn and grow on a journey of having it made.

Is it begging or praying? You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. On the other hand, maybe it's like the hair line difference between love and hate. We all want it black and white, however we must remember there are all kinds of shades of grey in between.

Whether it's begging or praying, God likes hearing from you. Your actions and prayers show what you care about. What could be the harm in that?? Nothing!!

That's what I see. It's very clear!!

Sometimes I wonder. Theres those that are called professional beggers, they work hard and can bag quite an amount from the effort.
