Dawkins is not an atheist, he is at most agnostic, he admits that he cannot be sure a god exists, no atheism there then.

That said, in the scheme of things grand, just ask the universe if lives matter and see what the answer is.

He's an atheist. Same as me.
Sorry for the serious-ish post in a Jokes thread, but there it is.

Funny, but actually a bit cheap, traducing atheism in this way.

I thought it was more cheap than funny.

But I get it. In a larger sense, nothing really matters. In the long run, we are all dead, and in a few hundred years, no one will care that we even existed.

However, given the intensity of recent events and the current mood of the greater public, jokes like this might tend to fall flat.

“Since we are just random accidents of evolution, and our so-called moral truths are just biochemical reactions in our brain, no human lives, or any lives at all, actually matter,” said prominent atheist Richard Dawkins, speaking for NLM. “Anyone who says Black Lives Matter, or Blue Lives, or whatever lives, has to believe in a higher moral code given by a creator. You can’t say in one breath that lives matter, and in the next breath claim that God is a human invention and all truth is relative.”

“We’re just trying to be logically consistent,” he added.

I wish he’d said that.

Although, among atheists, equating animal life w/ human life is normal.
I hope they don’t start eating humans.

It's almost cancel-culture worthy, isn't it... But that's just it -where do we draw the line?

Not everyone is OK with relinquishing humor, discussion and free speech over controversial topics. In fact, many reject it.

I met a cannibal once. True story. He wasn't an atheist though. Indeed, I think he would have found the concept of an atheist confusing at the very least, and possibly quite distasteful. Athough there are worse things than being distasteful to a cannibal I guess...!!!

WORLD—A group of atheists, along with some agnostics, announced on Tuesday a new sociopolitical movement consistent with their worldview called No Lives Matter.

According to sources, organizers for NLM have planned numerous rallies to protest other rallies claiming that lives matter. The organization’s mission statement defines the group as “people motivated by the belief that all human lives are equally meaningless.”

Maybe I shouldn't have brought serious discussion here, but this is something of a hot topic. So maybe it relates to the distaste for humor that some are expressing? Or maybe not?

Tensions among Vox employees erupt on Twitter after journalist signs 'cancel culture' letter » Infoutiles

Interesting. I found the letter that they signed: A Letter on Justice and Open Debate | Harper's Magazine

Even Noam Chomsky signed it. It's interesting to see the reactions against it, though. It seems some people value the vindictiveness over the actual ideals they claim to care about.

Who's showing a 'distaste for humour'?

True, it was said to be more cheap than funny. So that means it was still funny. I should have recognized that... But I just finished reading an article on google, before doing a search, and it was an article on "cancel culture"... So I guess my attention was diverted.
